Question 10s vs 12s

I am debating on my near-future setup for my subs.

3 Infinity Perfect 10s or 2 infinity Perfect 12s

the amp is an infinity Reference sub amp @ 1300 watts @2 ohms.

Either setup will be in a sealed box that match the specs infinity wants. My questions is this.........which will be louder? what will be the difference in sound?

It partly depends on what kinds of music you like to listen to. If you liked rap or hip hop or similar types of music with low rumbly bass, I'd probably say go with the 12s. But if you like music that has a harder punch like rock, then the 10s might be a better choice.

i'd definately go with 12's. I think they give the best overall sound and punch. They can get the lows that the 10's cant and they don't consume as much wattage as the 15's which i think are nice, but don't sound as good. i've loved all my 12's.

Just one 10" kicker L7 is all you need. Think of all the space you'll save with only a single 1 cubic foot box. I'm running one with only 400 watts behind it in my huge b-body car (9C1) and the bass is rediculous. The amp will be perfect to run it as a 4 ohm load.

Re: 10s vs 12s

it's easier to find an amp that will power 2 12's than it is to power 3 10's. Plus, 3 10's will usually cost you a little more than 2 12's.

Kinda what I'm getting at here. You said your amp outputs 1300W@2ohms. Easy enough with two subs.... how are you going to do it with three?
