pretty close to even with regard to the Z28/SS

Alright, my time to chime in on the quarter-mile times...

I'm sure the SRT8 that was witnessed running a 13.7 was not broken in yet. There's complex engine management software that reduces engine power until the engine breaks in.

GT G8 is capable of mid 13 sec 1/4 mi, low 13 sec with a tune and a filter. A tune and a filter is no longer stock. Let's see what a tune and a filter does to R/T and then also to SRT8 Challenger.

And finally, G8 GXP is not out yet. So the verdict will have to wait. It will likely run high 12's, magazines may test it at 13.0 - 13.2 range in my opinion.

We can also judge the manual SRT8 with the new drive ratio and compare apples to apples.

According to this website, MORE THAN HALF of SS models were ordered with a 6-speed manual. There were 6,108 M6 models to 5,083 A4 models.

Though Guy was saying that more than 70% of Camaros sold were automatics, he ignored that the Challenger in question is the SRT8 model, and compared apples to oranges.

The fact that the top of the line performance Camaro had more manual transmissions than automatics is a significant indicator of the market. Chrysler offered only automatic for now. No doubt, this made some people either switch to competition (Mustang) to get the manual, or just wait for the 2009 model year.

The question is, how many sales did Chrysler lose over not having a manual SRT8? Guy makes it seem that people living in caves order manual TX (e.g. hardly anyone), the Camaro numbers prove otherwise.

I do not want a challenger, im holding out for an f-body of some sort, unfortunately with my financial situation right now its probably going to be a used 02 ss or ws6 instead of a new maro.

As for limited production vehicles being marked up...

The HIGHEST dealer markup in the nation for a 2003 MazdaSpeed Protege, which was a 1 year run, was $1900. They only made 2750 mazdaspeeds for the 03's AND 03.5's for the entire world. So unless they want to give me $14,000 more for my mazdaspeed on trade in, they can keep there challenger.

The site refers to 2008 models.

Seems we zeroed in on this little item yet, completely missed djn's double backflip in which he 1st stated a "sub-$30,000" G8 GT could "smoke" a SRT Challenger, then backpedaled like mad to say he meant a G8 GXP would smoke a SRT Challenger.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but:

1. Isn't the G8 GXP going to be out during the 2009 model year? And...

2. Isn't the G8 GXP going to cost alot more than $30,000???

The post is like we've focused on cleaning that spec of dust on the table, but ignored the pile on the floor the elephant in the room made.

(I'm simply ribbing you, Plague, not slamming you )
OMG I HATE YOU!!!

Any way... I guess you might be able to find a base model GT on the lot. But the GXP will not be under 30k and it will likely take one to beat the SRT8.

G8 goes against the charger though, not the challenger. But that is a different discussion.

Assuming this statement IS accurate and, if it is true that the passenger side is the only side with that option, I wonder how many hardcore fans will eat up the fact that they intentionally made the car...inconvenient...to keep it original and hence, brag it up whenever they get the chance..?

I know a lot of people that would do that...

wtf? your comparing a modded car to a stock one. and even then, the SRT8's have been known to go faster than that.

try again.

Here's some 09 SE's for sale at dealers...

35.9k BIN
28.8k BIN
28.9K BIN
27.5k BIN

When I first saw this post I thought no way would they charge that much for a V6. I mean it's a sports coupe that runs low 16's and only gets 18-25mpg. Plus it looks incredibly cheap (yes I saw one in person) and it's not even limited production. Guess I was wrong though.
