Will 5th gen be a dissappointment?

Z/28 for Camaro seems much more honest .

I'm with Z284. Z28 is/was always supposed to be a special edition top Camaro with its own distinctivness, not what it was in the 4th Gen. SS should be the more luxurious car and the Z28 should be more like a 1LE or a lower production top M*stang competitor.

There were also other times where Z28 was not 'top model'... like the mid seventies where there was no Z28... or the mid eighties when IROC-Z was the top model... or the late eighties when there was no Z28 again... or the mid ninties on when SS was the top model.
As far as 'top model' from the beginning to 73, well, that really is a matter of opinion.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I think Z28 is more imortant to the Camaro legend than SS is, but the debate is soooooooooooooooooooo old... plus saying "Z28 is and always was top dog" is just not accurate.
The Z28 was a top model in the 1st Gen. The Z28 was a top model in the 2nd Gen. The Z28 and IROC-Z28 were top models in the Third Gen. The Z28 was a top model in the 4th Gen. It might have not always been the top Camaro, but it was more than SS or Type LT and thats what people think of when they thing of a top Camaro. It is to the Camaro what Trans Am is to the Firebird.
In the 1st and early 2nd Gen, it was like there were 2 top models each with their own characteristics (of which Z28 came out the legend) and in the later 2nd Gen-Mid 4th Gen, the Z28 was the only top Camaro. (IROC-Z28's are upgraded Z28's, obviously) The name is exclusive to the Camaro and more important, how any1 could even consider any more revisionist designation usage such as in the 4th Gen, is beyond me.
