He was the assistant brand manager for the Camaro. Rick Baldick was the brand manager.

The Firebird had it's own brand manager, Bob Kraut.

Yep, that'll get GM to speed up production on the new Camaro.

I don't blame him, especially when GM said that they where working on a Mustang fighter..

The Cobalt and Monte Carlo?

I don't want other people to go buy Mustangs, I just don't feel that this particular member is a positive contributor to this forum due to his racial views.

Sorry to let issues from another thread spill over into this one.

No, he's manager for Chevrolet Shows and exibits. Chances are you can catch him the day before any autoshow that has official Chevrolet involvement (as opposed to ones arranged by local dealers) overseeing Chevrolet's set up, or lurking around on "press day" or 1st "open" day.

He's apparently still somewhat involved with the next "F-body" program (not presently called Camaro).

I like how Guy nonchalantly mentions this when we are all a little fed up with GM at the moment for lack of good news. Always helps me keep the faith Guy

It seems that the F-body program is no longer a secret. Many contractors and vendors already have contracts, and some of them are talking to paper & mag editors & writers. Even Chevrolet's new general manager himself admitted (in an Autoweek article) they are working on a "Mustang challenger" for the near future.

Since some of these guys are talking, I'll simply repeat what they are saying and leave it at that. The only issue is the car's name. The consensus is that though the car in question could be called Camaro, it's a little on the large side. Apparently not Monte Carlo big, but bigger than Mustang. You'll probally see some of these blurbs in car rag's "Rumor Sections" in the February-April timeframe.

I'd be surprised if nothing official is said about the car this auto show season (not everything is revealed at Detroit, Charger was 1st mentioned officially last spring at one of Europe's shows). Don't expect an announcement of "We're going to build...", but a Solstice-like "We're trying to get...".

Watch Bob Lutz. He's the only GM official who can talk about new products this early, and often does. I suspect if someone in the press asks him about the car the right way, and leaves out the word Camaro, he just might give a surprising response.
