I would test drive a Aurora V8 ('01-'02) very nice. Also check out the Olds Intrique they are nice. Bought one for the wife, completly loaded: 3.5L DOHC V6, Leather, 8-way power seats, heated seats, 200watt 8-speaker stereo Tape/CD, power sunroof.

I would have liked to have gotten an Aurora but they were still up there in price at the time we got the Intrique

Ideally I'd have a BMW 3 series, but we are trying to stick to a $17-$21K price range and the 3 series in that range are on the high mileage end.
That kind of money would buy you a really nice lower-mileage B-body

My brother-in-law has a first-gen Aurora V8 that's damn nice. And they seem to be rather inexpensive on the used market, as well.

The Lincoln LS has a wonderful chassis, but the powertrain leaves me feeling very unsatisfied. I seem to remember that Kenny Bell has a supercharger available for it - maybe that'd help things out enough.

You can probably also find a used Marauder for reasonable prices on the used market, considering all the discounts that were offered on brand-new ones.

We ended up getting an 01 Maxima SE. In the end it was really my wife's call since she will be driving it.

Mauraders et al. are cool but too big for her, Olds, Caddy and Lincoln still give her and "old people" feeling. She didn't care for the Grand prix visually.

For what we were willing to spend I think we found a very good car. It even has side air bags.

If you do any long time driving I would go for this 2000-2001 Lincoln LS even if it looks like a older persons car the ride is very good and smooth. Just my .02
