What is the "mullet" antedote.

It's hard to ignor people when they don't take your pride and joy seriously. Very few people appreciate the Camaro. I just want everyone to respect and appreciate the Camaro.

This is not an "oh well" topic. It is something that GM needs to address and I think they will. This stigma DOES affect sales and for the camaro to compete with the mustang in the sales department it needs to be fixed.

I agree....and I also believe that it does affect sales.
I think the "mullet" image comes more from the people that drive these cars when they get ratty rather than from who buys them
new. If that is the case, then it is an issue of how these cars
hold up over time rather than how they are styled or how much
power they have. Therefore, make them more durable in every
area, especially paint & body. In other words, better quality
materials throughout!

You guys are probably going to kill me for saying but I think that T-tops (aka the Burt Reynolds bar) are probably not helping the image. Something like a Targa (think C5) is probably more "modern" in most peoples eyes.

It's not the car it's these snob asshle people. It's how the people take care of the car that's the problem and unfortunately when cars get older and cheaper they fall into the wrong hands and all of the nicer cars are automatically stereotyped anyway. Immature/ignorant people suck.

He ened up going out to lunch that day and as soon as he left everyone was laughing at him and saying why would anyone want such a POS, what so special about it and he's 29yrs old and it's a kid car ect. Even the V.P. was ripping on him, when I told him this was the last year of production he just laughed and said "they stopped making them because nobody would want to be caught dead in that piece of junk." Just open your eyes and you'll see that a Camaro is not an image booster. Alot of making your buying descision is the image the car has. I remember cruising around in my Z28 some people would give you the thumbs up and some people would just give you this stupid smirk. Believe me if we didn't feel strongly about this issue I or Z284ever would have never brought it up. An other thing (as much as this is gonna **** you guys off) with my current car (350Z) everyone looks at it the way I wished they looked at my Z28. Most people respect it (and believe me there is nothing special about it). I never had that feeling with my Z28 unless it was an other Camaro owner.
I don't see anyone using any stereotype when it's a 10 year old Lumina. Or even a 25 year old Corvette. What this got to do with anything that I meant. It's the ignorant people trying to be asholes or to feel big about themselves around other people.People who buy cars for it's image that it will give them have bigger issues to deal with.Your story just proves my point.

I'll tell you this much....
When I drive my 67 RS... thumbs up, finger pointing and stares all around.
When I drive my 95 Z/28... no one even looks my way. Occasionally a person will ask me about the car, and they're typically amazed that a 1995 car looks this good. Then it ends up that they're car people and have a muscle car of their own.
When I drive either of my kid's Mustangs... people give me dirty looks, or want to race me.

However, I think the reactions to my 95 Z/28 say a lot. Only car people and especially those into American muscle cars seem to notice it and have positive things to say about it. Since those are the types of people I'd rather associate with, I can give a rat'sass what some pencil-necked-geek corporate a-hole thinks.
That includes my wife, who hates my cars, and just doesn't understand.
