What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
The only absolute deal breakers are the following:
1. Manual transmission. This is a no-brainer, but sometimes it's good to state the obvious.
2. Price. It's gotta be competitive with the Mustang, bottom line, no excuses.
3. Backseat. The backseat MUST be useable, or else, I'll never sell the "boss" on it since we've got a rugrat.
4. Cargo space. Again, it's gotta be at least on par with the Mustang or else the "boss" wont approve it.
The package as a whole has to be there: performance, styling, utility, etc.... I'm not worried, though.

Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
In order of importance to me:
1. RWD & V8
2. Must look like a Camaro (no smiling).
3. Rear end NOT made out of glass.
4. Transmission that can handle the power it makes (and then some).
5. Solid chassis - No squeaks or rattles.
6. Interior quality up to par (like GTO's).
7. Cheaper than Mustang (even if it's just $1).

6.0L
live axle
basic luxury's (pw,pl, a/c)
Must weigh the same or less than a 4th gen Camaro (weight is as important as hp/tq)
Priced competitively with Mustang
Room under the hood to actually work on (modify) the drivetrain.

Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
1. V8 (iron 6.0 would be great, but, I can always swap that in)
2. RWD
3. T56
4. 1LE
5. Z/28 (with the slash please)
5. Blue metallic
6. Strong Rear Axle (Dont care what kind, just dont break every time I drive)
7. Angry looking (retro or modern, I couldnt care less, just be a camaro)
8. TTops/Targa
9. Great (GTO-like) seats

Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
It has to have:
Manual tranny
over 330 hp V8
Revolutionary or evolutionary styling
targa or t-tops (or a roof with helmet space)
17-18 inch tires
seats with real bolsters
weigh in about or less than the current car
shorter than the current car
Corvette-ish windsheild rake
I will be on the fence for a while if it doesn't have (not single items but a combo of):
IRS
Aluminum block
solid diff
track option package (Z28?)
cockpit style driver's environment
provisions for a trailer hitch (gotta get the race rubber there somehow)
I'd really like to see:
Process to allow customization of the car your buying at the dealership, installed while you're signing your name. Could be different:
-spoiler
-wheels
-seat color inserts
-gauge face colors
-stripes
-shift *****
-etc

Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
*potent engine lineup (not worried here)
* 6spd manual tranny (not worried here)
* quality upto par with vehicles in its price range
* good looking exterior/interior.
* T-tops or Targa (though i prefer hardtops myself).
* strong rear, not this cheap weak 10bolt crap.
* variety of wheels, trims, and appearance differeces/options between different models.

Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
Sounds like most of us want a 4th gen again.
But might I suggest that we quit calling the 4th gen that, but rather call it the Death gen. Since most every thing about it spelled the death of the namesake we cherish here...
If retro sells, so be it.

But I can see how some people could want those, just like a SMG, or something like it.
They need a good mix of luxury and geeky gadgets for it to be a solid seller, and that can't jack the price up to high.
Re: What does the 5th gen need for you to buy it?
Needs lots of stuff. Lots of stuff that is... done dead nuts right. I have a sense that people at GM know what should be done.....let's hope that GM "as a company" (to paraphrase Ruess), commits - both in will and money - to get the Camaro done, dead nuts right.

This is a website of enthusiasts you know (for the most part.)
