I dont know if any of you here ever read any issues of the Akira comic but there was a recumbent motorcycle in that comic which might inspire a whole new breed of recumbent speed bikes.

Would you ride this motorcyle?

Here's the Gator motorcycle @ http://www.allamericanracers.com/all...ator_home.html which is one the first attempts of a recumbent motorcycle.

Once you get used to riding a recumbent-style bike its really hard to go back to a standard style. I currently ride a Easy Racer recumbent bicycle http://www.easyracers.com/images/side.jpg and its really fast and fun for rides along PCH and the boardwalks along the beach.

Akira?

I still have all of them; the manga is superior to the movie IMHO, but I got two version of that as well (I'm a big fan). As for the bike, personally I'm surprised they haven't fully "arrived" yet...

I never collected all the Akira Comics only like the first 10 issues. Even 10 plus years ago I thought the Akira speed bike would be a great new idea and would create an entire new class of hodrod speed bikes and especially if they were made for under $10,000.

I also thought that Silicon-based colored tires would be made in volume for motorcycles by now as well, but I guess colored tires wear down faster then traditional tires.
