Re: What do Cobalt SS owners have to say?

Derek,

Can you point me to any info about the computer issues? Is it the torque management they're having issues with (a la C6?), or even just small stuff like fuel/spark tables?

Thanks

And FWIW if you're remembering 0-60 anywhere in the 7 second range you are without a doubt recalling times from an automatic Maxima between 95 and 99. Those were the transmissions performance guys loved to hate... they called them "automagics" becauase they 'magically' sapped easily a full second in 1/4-mile times and nearly a full second 0-60 as well.
Think about what you are saying. This would make the Maxima one of the fastest cars for its time. An lt1 was a 5.9 to 6 second 0 to 60 at that time in most mags.

Yeah, Edmunds lists it as 3001 lbs, and doesn't have any acceleration data.

I seriously doubt that Maxima is that fast. The non turbo 300ZX from that era had 227 hp and could maybe break a 14 second quarter mile on a 50 degree day with the wind blowing in the right direction.

A little off there, the turbo version only ran 5.5 to 60 and 13.9 in the 1/4.

The non-turbo V6 was so slow! We took a 95' 300 ZX non turbo out and raced it against a 96' Grand prix coupe and the 300ZX BARELY pulled on the GP. My guess is that the non turbo could run the quarter in a high 15 at best.

I know... pretty much anyone who rode with me was blown away by how quick it was... to 60 especially. I raced several 94-98 GTs (I always picked on them for obvious reasons) and took out every last one of them. I know that's not that impressive since that year range of Mustang GT was pretty much an embarassment to the Mustang community, but it's still pretty good for a 4 door 'family sedan'.

And to those talking about the 300ZX... it weighed 300-500 pounds more than the Maxima SE 5-speed (depending on equipment)

These are the best numbers I can find and even these might be a little low:

1994 Nissan Maxima (auto) 8.8 16.7
1995 Nissan Maxima (manual) 6.6 15.2

It may have felt fast...........
