Let's not forget that these jobs don't require degrees or a huge amount of experience to get started.
Let's also not assume that that means the job is any easier or worth less...just different.
And, at the current rate, a few years from now, $14/hr will look damn good anywhere in the country...we're growing the wrong way...degree or not.

At any rate; sorry if I inferred too much!
I did say I hope the American Toyota workers unionize. It was a little sarcasm but like all sarcasm there is some truth behind it. I think the workers should do whatever they think is right to protect their needs and rights. If Toyota is screwing with them as a group like these documents suggest then why not get together. I think we both agree unions are a bit weaker today than 50-75 years back. That being said I still think they can get a point across to Toyota. If they did strike and Toyota lost a few dollars and got some bad press I'd certainly take some joy in it.

Again this all stems from Toyota themselves. The workers didn't think about unions until Toyota gave them a reason to. Who paid the workers too much and then kept paying too much only to realize that they were paying more than the competition. Who made the documents found in the plant.... 3 guesses?
Why didn't they worry about this years back when they built the plants here? Probably because they were far to interested in actually breaking into the US market and trying to fit in with the locals so they could grab more press and profits. Now they are exposed and its a little late to make a market adjustment to wages at US factories.
