Top Gear tests C6
Re: Top Gear tests C6
Dear God I just saw the video... the guy who drove the car?? He had to struglle so much to shift it. does he have arthritis or something? And when he hit the pebble, what was up with that?
People like that don't deserve to review cars

Re: Top Gear tests C6
he was just exaggerating thats just what they do. like when he said that 400lb-ft of torque is enough to move those trees from over here to over there. Just being stupid.

Let the Brits enjoy the illusion that they have a resemblence of a homegrown car business.
Too bad that no one looks to Britain when someone mentions greatness in modern cars. There is talent there. Make no mistake. Jag is nearly in the tank...TVR...yeah right. McLaren? Not today folks....
Lotus? Good chassis, no homegrown engine.

Sometimes I think GM should just switch to OHC just to **** all over those guys

More typical Top Gear. They always have fun, and you gotta give it that. If you want true real-world Bench Numbers, check out something else. If you want a little gusto and some fun, top gear is fine. For what they normally say, you'd think if people REALLY took them seriously they'd have been sued by now.
I really wish Tiff was still there. Tiff and Jeremy worked really well together, both showing the negatives and positives.
And besides... we all know over here "In the Colonies" (who saved who's *** in WWI? WWII?) that the Vette may not be perfect...
But they even said it. A Porsche 911 is 60,000 - where the Vette is 40,000..... That's 50% more then the vette.
And I didnt know the C6 had a G meter in it now! Sweet!

Re: Top Gear tests C6
What I find odd is that C6 beat 911 GT3. GT3 is Porsche's track car. Its business is to do handling like nothing else. That car costs $100K USD. And C6 beat it around the track.
What shall be of Z06, then? I can't wait for those numbers to show up.
And 911 Turbo, value-priced @ $118K USD, was even lower on the list.
This is why I feel all talks about poor-handling Corvettes (because they're american) are unfounded. Interestingly enough, when the name Porsche comes up, most in the conversation will automatically be biased in perceiving legendary handling of the car.

Porsche follows the "Oh look I'm god!" mentality... Too bad GM finally came through with an equal or better car- with pushrods instead of variable valve timing overhead cams, and an "antique" leaf spring setup, much cheaper...
You'd think the European companies would be scared - but they arent because people are so biased. I mean, Clarkson even said "Colonies"...
And I'll say one more big thing - We Americans have always done two things VERY well:
1)Quantity over Quality
2)Brute Force
So it does what it has to do, cheaper (but perhaps not as refined) and with strength in numbers!
Besides... try to get service stateside on a porsche compared to a vette. Or fuel economy... The Vette simply kicks ***.
