OK....I say "put that 'lil weasel in the passenger seat and let ME show him how it's done........."
(memo to self...make sure you put Scotchguard on the passenger seat before inserting " 'lil weasel")
Too bad they don't know what they're talking about.........sounds more like the French to me............

OK ...I shouldn't probably post this on a site...but lemme tell ya something.
I have to report twice a week on the one I'm driving.....we're always looking for something wrong.......and I gotta tell ya....it's harder and harder to find things wrong.
I think you will all be very pleased if you have the opportunity to drive one. (If I must say so myself.....)
As to whoever the H--- was driving that car on a road course....perhaps they ought to try putting on their glasses first.
One last comment. I remember several journalists telling me that they could NOT get a Z06 to go from zero to 60 in 4 secs.....in fact, some were pitifully slow in getting to 60 (the journalists, not the car.........)

"here is a z06 to review. we also brought you limeys a driver too."
Re: Top Gear tests C6
It seems to be a fashionable on enthusiast sites like this to disparage test drivers from magazines, and I think that's unfair. These guys do more quarter mile passes in a month than most of us will do in a lifetime, and I think it's naive to think that they're somehow inferior to the average weekend racer. Remember that they're testing the cars on a very controlled basis, i.e. full tank of fuel, recommended tire pressures, full weight of test equipment, no speed shifting, corrected for atmospheric conditions, etc.
Now if you want to compare them to factory drivers who've had the luxury of hundreds of passes without concern about the longevity of the car, well, let's bring out the Ford and Porsche factory hotshoes and see how they stack up.
Bottom line is, whether the magazines get the absolute best timeslips possible or not, their results will be consistent and comparable among a wide variety of cars that they test.

What many folks on enthusiast sites object to when looking at some "journalistic" evals of vehicles is the results are often not indicative of reality. I'd think a magazine or tv show would want the info they present to be as useful as possible. Most often it's not. I'm not interested in what the unskilled can accomplish in a car. I can go to a drag test and tune or open track day and see plenty of that.
I'm interested in what a car is cabale of in skilled hands. I never saw much good in doing a 1/4 test if you don't understand what makes for a good 1/4 mile pass. The 1/4 mile tests are really only something of interest for folks interested in 1/4 mile performance. Granted the quarter is a good yardstick because it's a familiar term in the US. The specialized, heavy on drag racing interested readership mags understand validity of 1/4 results. They put people who undertand how to get a great pass out of a car. Testing is supposed to reveal cabability of the car and not the shortcommings of the driver. What a car can do is only revealed in the most skilled hands under favorable conditions. Racing is very different than tests or evaluations. Racing reveals driver AND machine.
The Top Gear fast lap segment might have been all show biz... because it didn't show someone driving in a manner that will produce a fast lap. It looked more like a little bit of stunt driving mixed with drifting. The guy wasn't driving the fast line at all. The throttle control was spasmodic at best.
I'l give TG the benefit of the doubt, as they are first and foremost an entertainment rather than serious automotive show. Maybe the test results are done by someone with a clue, then hammed up for entertainment value later becuase going fast never looks out of control, it looks the opposite, it appears remarkably controlled.

So either the c6 is capable of even faster times than that, or the single run showed in the vid isn't the same one they acheived their posted time with.

As for stunt driving... it wasn't and you are right, probably a bad choice of words... crazed valet parking attendant would be most acurate.
When I see anyone "sawing" the steering wheel in a 5 gen or later 'vette I think "first time in a fast car huh?"
C5 and C6 reward the smooth driver with a measured throttle pedal. I know of what I speak. They will also punish trailbrakers.
Balanced is lovely if you can appreciate it.
Re: Top Gear tests C6
I must say i was expecting something different from their review...
the comments about the leafsprings were really pissing me off. If it works why change it? Not all high tech stuff is good.
But anyways Jeremy is generally very biased against American cars for being very thirsty and cheap. But if you look at most european cars, they are even worse quality (by about 20 times i might add). The funny thing is is that Jeremy is getting a Ford GT and i know he atleast wants (he might own) an H2
so go figure.
about the track driver for the times, its an f1 driver. they have him because, although he may not be the fastest driver in the world, he generally is consistent as most good racers should be. Although he did seem a little bit sluggish for the vette, it wasnt too off of what he often does. but it definately wasnt his best run.
I just dont see where/how Jeremy can rag on a C6 about the rear body panels flexing like that. So what? i mean you would have to go out of your way to find something like that. i guess to fix it GM can put foam in there and then send it back.
