Top Gear tests C6

Words fail me. I thought I've seen bias before, but this takes the cake. This clip is so full of misinformation and editing, that I about lost my dinner watching it. I hope the link works for a bit so you can enjoy the comedic value as much as I did

Top Gear needs to get a clue

Re: Top Gear tests C6

looked like a good old american bashing from the brits
o well, they might make fun of the leaf springs, the prehistoric suspension setup, and the plastic interior, but they couldn't deny it was only a few seconds behind the best they threw at it
let them take a z06 and their attitude might change drastically (they'd still make fun of it, but they wouldnt be able to deny or make fun of the time it would run)

Top Gear TV is becoming the "Survivor" in the auto industry. Nobody believes the crap they see, yet they continue to watch it for amusement purposes.

I found it kind of funny that he thought the clutch was heavy. Should try to drive my 5.0 with a FMS clutch, now that is heavy. I find it funny that they put the C6 up against some top models, but that isn't even the best C6.

he also found the transmission clunky... but at least its not like all our other cars with battleship engines... now was this guy serious or just stupid cause he sounded just as bad as car and driver tv's review of the gto. Its like he realizes whats there, makes other things up, and it comes out all negative.

Re: Top Gear tests C6

Just a little biased, uh yeah ok. Looks like they need to get a better driver in the car, who might actually take his foot out of the gas around a corner, or brake at least. Bet they don't test a Z06, they wouldn't want an American car at the top of there list with the suspension off of a Chariot I guess that suspension setup hasn't dominated the 24hrs or the American LeMan Series.....Stupid Brits

"If you want a plastic lhd car with a Vietnamese suspension..."

Laughable. Just imagine if someone ran it around the track without being so "messy." And you would think they would not have so much trouble with an American clutch given all that football they play over there.

And I think we've progressed a bit since being referred to as "the colonies"...

I guess it's all for the sake of "good" tv.

Also related: The current MotorTrend makes an effort to brag about the new Corvette, while humoring the notion that it appears to be a C5.5; the same issue also examines the new Porsche 911 (which to at least my eyes, is barely distinguishable beyond the headlights), and brag that it is very new and different inside and out.

I think too many on these shores have 911-envy. Maybe next time, we won't be so moved to impress the limey buyers.

Re: Top Gear tests C6

Funny, though after testing the GT they didn't have one bad word. They loved it. So I don't think they really bash American products too much if they're good. Just not too long ago you guys totally agreed with the bashing they did of the Ford 4.6L. Ironic now that they bash the Vette that Top Gear is a bad show... Anyway, the C6 is a fine machine, it's just that Top Gear's standards are just way too high

Re: Top Gear tests C6

Wow, they're as surprised the Corvette can turn as much mch as Americans know how to turn. Talk about over the top bias acting (that guy should swicth to automatics if it hurts to shift so much)

Yes it uses leaf springs AND was faster (by two spots) than a Porsche GT-3.

I have one final word for our pompous, Brit idiot friends...Lucas electronics (at least our cars run when it's moist outside).

Re: Top Gear tests C6

I got a kick out of the fact that they made it seem like the NSX was running with/beating the vette in a straight line. Yeah, a car that runs a mid 13 hanging with a car that runs mid-12s (and going through the traps around 10mph faster)
