The 05 Mustang is an absolute winner. It is great looking and is available today. Steve McQueen was never a "girly-man", so talking about sissy cars carries no water.
The new 300 is a rocket and has smooth elegance.
If you want a dragster, then go buy a 64 Nova and tub it out and drop in a 454.
Audi, BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Acura all make better cars, with fit and finish, reliability, and handling that embarrasses GM. My Camaro is a rattle-bucket, gas pig. Handles good...when the road is dry.
I can't play partisan games with those that 'diss other manufacturers. I have my opinions, but I respect other's choice.
If GM can read this, tell them that they ran out of time with me. I just don't care anymore.

GM will probably end up choking.......like usual !

The new Mustang has me really really close to jumping the fence.........

Re: Thread for the discussion of the "Bright Headlights..." article
Underneath it all I am still a GM guy...but I jumped ship in 01 for a Bullitt and loved that car. I have a 04 Mach 1 now. I had one other stang in my life, an 86. Every other car I have had was GM...two Monte SS cars, several F bodies and so on.
GM dealers started to run me off with crazy crap at the end of the F body era.
Don't get me started about trying to buy a GTO and the attitudes and mark ups I ran into (in fact just for grins I went by a Pontiac place today and they started at sticker minus the rebate and did not mention it was a rebate...jerks).
Combine that with being abandoned by GM and they have a major up hill battle getting me back.
I wanted to get one of the last SS 'maros but I had the Bullitt and could not swing it...plus that was a really cool little stang. When it was time to buy again in early 04 my only real option was a stang again and I went with the Mach.
I kind of feel like if they do come out with something in 07 that it will be far far to late for me...this from a guy who has chevy motors in his Ford hot rods.
Im sorry, but none of this gives me anything to feel positive about.
I wanted a GTO, but after all the troubles I had trying to even consider one and the fact I am not in love with the looks of the car I will never buy one just because I am a bitter jerk now...LOL.
Too little too late...its a "what have you done fore me lately" world and GM has not done anything for me...I could buy a nice family car or some Euro something but I am a F body/stang type guy...its what I like and stangs are getting cooler...how can you not like the 05?
GM, go look at that 05 stang...

Re: Thread for the discussion of the "Bright Headlights..." article
I hope GM doesn't look at the M*stang's styling, but at how there actually is a market for a coupe.
Actually, it's pretty easy to not like the new M*stang. I think F*rd decided to copy one of their better looking M*stangs, the 67. Truly a classic, and I hate F*rds. They ran with it. The concept was kinda cool, it was pretty sweet. But by production, it just got old, every time I see one online, I'm like wow, there's a '67 M*stang made in 2004. The rear overhang makes me want to vomit and the rear end looks like an afterthought. The front might look good without the fog lights in the middle. Are those fog lights btw, cause they're frickin huge, something I'd put on a jacked up Jeep. Take those out and the front end might look good, except wait, comparing it to the bricks outside, it looks exactly the same. The wheels look like something of a Saturn, okay...with an extra spoke. You can change the gauge colors.
Not really sure about that one. Interior looks okay. I don't notice them on the street any more, they blend in. Which is weird cause I pick out Goats which are far rarer around this part. Then you have the fact that it is a F*rd product, which is incentive in itself not to buy one. I'm glad there are so many of you who jump ship and KEEP THE FAITH.
So there isn't a Camaro out right now. Have patience. Keep driving your current Camaro. Buy a third gen and drop in an LS2 or LS6. You can make a Third Gen new. I think they're some of the best looking Camaros.. blah blah blah looks are your own opinion... whatever, third gens have a classic look. Imagine if you're saving now for a down payment on a car. Keep saving until '07 or '08. You'll have one hell of a down payment on a shiney new Camaro.
And yet you jump ship and don't keep the faith. I'm 18. Why is it that some of you who were around for the first and second gens are jumping ship and whining like little girls that there isn't a new Camaro. Suck it up, wait it out, you aren't the only one, no one has a new Camaro.
flame away or whatever, I'm off my box now.

Re: Thread for the discussion of the "Bright Headlights..." article
Well, I guess I'm an old guy at 43. I've owned 12 camaros. Right now I have an '02 B4C and a '74 Z28. I also have an 04 Vette under a cover. Why is it under a cover? After putting 800 miles on it, I decided it wasn't for me. I'm a Camaro guy. I need that tiny back seat. Now the Vette is in waiting as an awesome trade on a new Z28, be it an '07, '08, '09 or whatever.
Camaro forever!
Camaro forever!

I'd already be making enough to buy a Ferrari by then. Cash.I wish they would just bring it out in the next year or two....I would trade in or sell my '99 and put another $3K down just to get the payments low...I also have a '03 Altima that I hate and would love to throw in there in the trade-in.

IMO - The "Geo Storm on steroids" look was a big hit.... Probably why it is still around. I have a Geo Storm on steroids ('95 Z28) in my garage with 39K miles on it (owned since new), my ancient fox chassis Mustang has less rattles, squeaks, looks better, and is worth more than the Z28 and it has 120K miles on it!
When I was 18, I once said Chevy was sh*t and Fords rule, but as I've gotten older and wiser, I've learned to accept performance vehicles (strictly american muscle cars) with an american name plate to be all on the same team. Perhaps, someday, you can/will do the same.
I would love to see a 5th generation Camaro and hope it is better than the current car by leaps and bounds, as the new Mustang is tough to beat all around.

As much as I dislike F*rd, I'd definitely purchase it or a Dodge/Chrysler vehicle before I bought any import--Italian, German, or Japanese. I would much rather be caught dead in a M*stang than some import. Again, if they're fast, I can definitely appreciate them... Supras are cool, just something I'd probably never own. I'd rather have a GN
.

I'm quite impressed with the fact (and glad
) that you are an american muscle car lover, especially at the age of 18 and are loyal to your brand! We need more of you! Especially when so many from the younger generations are buying Honda Civics, slapping on a fart can, ground effects, and racing around like they are driving the fastest car on the earth with 150hp under the hood! LOL! Spread the knowledge that good 'ole american V8 power is where it's at!
I hear you regarding GN's
One will grace my garage in the future!

Re: Thread for the discussion of the "Bright Headlights..." article
i dont know if anyone else mentioned this (I only read the first page) but I wouldn't have tied the return of the GTO with 'filling the gap' myself.
Re: Thread for the discussion of the "Bright Headlights..." article
There probably isn't anything I can say that hasn't been said already, but I'll add my 2 cents anyway. I'm trying to save my money for a down payment on a sports coupe within the next two years. The Mustang is looking real good at the moment, but since I'm getting older, I want something just a bit special. If I get a Mustang, I want a SE. But if a Camaro comes out that can beat that in styling and be similar or better in price, then I'll get that. I was a Camaro 'team member' for years, have had a '76, a '73, '80 Z, and an '88. I would have gotten a late model Camaro back in the 90's but I was married, and my wife at that time didn't like them. Now I'm single again, but there's no new Camaro, and I don't see buying used. I need something dependable and stylish.
The new Mustang is not just one old model brought back to life. It is the best of several different models. I might have done the rear end a bit different, and the hood is too big and plain for my taste, but for the money it's the best thing for me right now. If GM doesn't at least give me some info pretty soon, I'll probably have to go with that, but I'd love nothing more than for a new kick butt Camaro to come out and start the pony wars all over again, and we can ride again as before!

Re: Thread for the discussion of the "Bright Headlights..." article
A buddy of mine with some connections has told me they are in the stages of picking which designs to go with. Its supposed to have some retro styling - not as much as the Mustang though. It should have a slightly detuned LS2 as well.
