Thoughts on cars I've seen lately..

Please feel free to add in comments...

Impala- BORING. I'd kill for an old Impy SS with the supered v6 over one of these any days of the week. Oh well, if they sell, who cares I guess.

DTS- Very impressed. Saw on in traffic. You can still see the old Deville but it took very nicely to the new Art and Science theme, which I wasn't thinking it would really. Very nice, design team.

C6- I don't know. This thing looked iffy when I first saw it, even after the auto show. But now I can truthfully say the design team (and drivetrain team and everything else obviously) nailed this car. It looks distinctively Corvette and still looks like a modern interpretation and evolution of the car.

Cobalt SS N/A- Very good. They nailed this one I think. I'd like to drive one to see how it feels, but it looks great imo. Even better than the supered SS just because of the modest wing, not over the top at all.

Buick Lacrosse- Beautiful car. Still warming up to the front end but the rest of it looks good. Seems like a cheaper Jaguar from the front if you ask me

That's about all I got. I was just wondering what you guys think of them. I was gonna do one by one in threads but, nahhhh.

Re: Thoughts on cars I've seen lately..

Impala: I really like it, it looks a little sleeker somehow. I never really did like those big round tail lights that it had before. However, the new back end looks a little too much like alot of other cars on the road.

Cobalt: I've seen alot of coupes around lately. They are a big improvement over the cavalier, the base model looks a little dull from the front.

Buick Lacrosse: I like it too. Every time I see one, I think they look very classy.

HHR: I really like it. I went to check one out at a dealership. I expected it to be too much like the pt cruiser. I found it to be alot better looking.

G6: I love the sedan, I've only seen one coupe, and I found it odd and mis-proportioned.

I can't wait to start seeing some solstices around here.

I saw the new Impala on the road. Horrid, its like they took the skin off an Audi and gave it that old toyota anti-interest polish...

Sooooo not worth talking about.

New Impala: Thank God!..the "Fish Eye" tail lights are history...
Much improved in every way, a friend of mine at work just traded in his Park Ave for one, and is HAPPY!..."Factory Remote Start"...his favorite option. More angles, curves and style...rear looks better than Camry, near Lexus..

GTO: Like it, respect it. 05 was a very good improvement

HHR: Ugly as sin, Chevy strikes out again

Lacrosse: Nice styling, but nothing wows me about it.

DTS: I want one

Cobalt: Good replacement for the Cavy, but that's not really a compliment.

I think the things are an eyesore too, but I don't think I would call them a strike out. At least not in my neck of the woods. I already have seen plenty of them on the road, and they haven't even been out very long.

the turn over on those things is well, excluding the replacement time, is probably 2-3 days, which is awesome compared to the average GM vehicle is about 43 days i think... we've had 2 or 3 now where same day they got here same day the have left...

The Impala on the other hand is a bit of a slow mover, I agree they look better and have cool remote start, but they dont have the buzz the HHR has, GM needs more products with "THAT BUZZ"

Re: Thoughts on cars I've seen lately..

Cobalt- Deffinatly better looking then the Civic (new and old), Corolla, but wish that the non-SS models had better steering to match the 3.

Impala- Very classy looking, and SS has a very cool edge to it. Interior looks great and the car looks like it will do well.

HHR- Deffinatly a cool gotta-have car for the young. I can deffinatly see this going against the PT as well as the Element, xB, and other small samll utes.

DTS- Looks great on the inside, but would walk right past it for the STS without even batting an eyelash.

LaCrosse- It is probably the best looking of all the W body cars, but I wish they did more with it. Very classy, interior is great, and the 3.6 packs a good punch. It needs more high-tech gizmos as well as a 6spd auto and better handling.

I agree with you Al. I'd definately take an STS (preferably black with chrome grille ) over a DTS, but for what it is, the DTS looks great.

I personally think the new impala in Black (only ) is a very good improvement of the impala's of the past few years, although, i will always feal they should make it RWD, but i dont see it happening.

When i first seen it at the NAIAS i also had so-so thoughts, but seeing it scoot down the street was truely inspiring. Excellent build, i agree whole-heartidly.

A Econo-car by anyother name is still an econo-car, but as long as the market demands them i know GM will build them, just not my bag.

Re: Thoughts on cars I've seen lately..

Impala: Not much to look at, and somewhat more invisible than the previous Impala, but you can't call them ugly and the interiors are downright awesome!

Cobalt: I'm not a fan of the sedans, but I do like the coupes & the interiors are extremely good across the board for a car that price...made in the US!

LeCrosse: Not a fan of the exterior because there's nothing new or distinctive. Nothing that hasn't been done on a Taurus or older model Lexus. Saving grace is (again) the interior. Next to the former Century & LeSabre, it's hard to believe the same company did this interior.

Corvette: I want to really love the new Corvette. It has alot of cool touches, such as the tail lights that look like lit rings from a distance, the blosc out lower rear bumper that includes the back up lights, the chiseled look that recalls previous Corvettes. But the new Vette simply doesn't look right. I think the C5 is going to become a classic. It's a great looking sculptured car. Many people still can't believe the C5 was around as long as it was, a testiment to it's great timeless styling. The C6 interior seems to have lost something too. This is not to say this isn't the fastest, best made Corvette in history, or perhaps even the world's best sports car. It's just that I can't really warm up to it's looks.

GTO: I love stealth. I love ridiculous speed. I'm more of a grand touring over raw stripped performance type of guy now, and I like to be able to carry the occasional back seat passenger or still fit in a child seat (got a toddler). Next to my SC, this is the car that answers every need I have.... er, almost.

Fusion: Don't know what to make of it. The new Ford front is intresting (you'll see it on the FiveHundred next year), the interior looks great, but the basic shape breaks no new ground.

HHR: This thing is going to be a smash hit. $15K starting price, customized look, great option list, best looking guages I've ever seen, and solid construction to boot. PT Cruiser suddenly looks obsolete.

DTS: uh.... it's OK.

G6: I like the sedan, haven't seen a coupe yet, I'll have to sit this one out for now.

Mustang: I really, really like the car. It looks big because it has a high beltline, a trunk that comes almost up to your mid-chest, has a flat hood, & is 55" tall. But when you look at it's length & width or park it by something else, it's actually smaller than it looks. I like the interior design, but I think Ford could have used softer materials on the doors, dash, and steering wheel. Great handling car, though. Surprizing for a live axle.

Charger: Meanest looking new car on the streets. Funny, 6 months ago, I was pretty disappointed. Just shows you how things change when you see them in real life. Interior is nice in a German sort of way (great materials, quality, and workmanship.... but dungeon-like in atmosphere).

A black Charger RT with deep tint and the big Hemi badge is mean as hell looking. I commented to my wife yesterday that this car could star in one of those old "car with no driver is killing everyone" horror movies. With that srt8 scoop and a mean exhaust ts is quickly irresistable to me.

Re: Thoughts on cars I've seen lately..

Cobalt: Makes me anxious for the '08 Malibu This car is great, and I applaud the n/a SS model, unlike many here. I wonder how many SS 350 Camaros/Chevelles and SS 396 Impalas those furious 4 bangers can whoop

Impala: Miles better than the current car...but the SS lacks visual soul LS/LT/LTZ are all spot on, with excellent interiors, powertrains and pricing.

Corvette: I don't know...love the LS2 and the interior, but the outside? Eh...its not doing it for me, personally. But, I never have been a Corvette guy anyway.

G6: Sedan = Coupe = See my other thread about Pontiac for the reasons why!!! Drive a GTP 6 speed if you still don't believe me.

Solstice: Makes a Miata look like a toy. I love it

GP GXP: I won't bore the rest of you with my love of this car.

LaCrosse: Great car in dire need of real engines...

Lucerne: See LaCrosse.

Fusion: Competent new model...Pontiac one-upped them with the M6 for a V6, though. Plus, the car doesn't stand out, IMO...but the interior is typical Grade A Ford.

500: Pure boredom.

Charger: Pure evil. Put me down as one of those people who hated it in pics, and loves it in person!

Avalon: This car looks like the front, the back and the sides were designed by 3 different people. But, because its a Toyota, I'll see them all over New England in another month...

Civic: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA....best thing that ever happened to a Cobalt!

Thats enough for now...
