There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
Do you think these people know? Less people to know, the less info that is released, and there have only been an handful of people that release info on the Camaro. The less that know, the better the suprise when it comes out.

There are a lot of industry guys and “in the know” guys the frequent this forum. There is even one guy here that has worked for GM for years and has direct influence on the 5th gen.
When you come here enough you realize what and who is creditable and start to figure out what is actually going on.
So from my point of view you should understand why I find it so funny every time someone with 15 posts comes in here with definite statements like yours that are not even close to true.
And to answer your question, why am I so confident?
Because I’ve been told just about straight up by the most creditable source not only to this board but to the entire 5th gen situation that is coming and to “keep the faith”.

Or, there might be a trickle of info once the CAW negotiations are done. Any word on those by the way?

Don’t expect the Camaro to be any different.
When it rolls out at the 2008 or 9 NAIAS GM will say “We have a new Camaro”
However hang around here and you can learn a lot.
I imagine something big will be coming at this years NAIAS.
Pretty much all I can say is “Stay tuned”

Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
The document in question that GMI had to remove from their site was also posted here. It was considered "classified" even though it truthfully isn't (damn me for saying it, but it's publicly available on Canadian trade websites, but I went as far as to save it on my own harddrive with a screenshot of the exact page in question that has the "C" word on it) and it was, quite literally, a list of atleast 20 GM cars, the platform they were on, the class, and the years they were being made, with a "color code" on how many were being produced that year.
BUT -- There's always a but -- things change on a whim. Being as the document was from december, looking back on it now it's outdated and wrong. Maybe the mods that be will be more willing to allow someone to post it? Maybe not? I'm not willing to get banned just to find out.
The infamous cleveland_e.pdf file has made many waves that it was released to the public, because I know when I personally talked to a few insiders, the very mentioning of the document seemed to make them grow sour for a few minutes.

When you come toa website called CamaroZ28.com, then go to a thread called 5th gen & future vehicles, you have to automatically assume that you are dealing with a group of people that know a little bit about the subject, or at the very least the subject is up to date.
A couple of other tips:
1. Just because Joe Schmoe sends an e-mail to GM, doesn't mean much. I hate to break it to you, but your form letter is over a year and a half old. In their reply to you, they mention that the plant where Camaro's made has no new product scheduled. Guess so..... the plant's been bulldozed for months.
2. It takes roughly 4-5 years to develop a new car, and depending on how big a deal it is, 18-36 months to get it to market once approved, depending on how many new parts are involved or if it's mainly a repackaging of an exoisting car. Anything started from scratch today would be ready for showrooms by 2010.... thats model year 2011.
3. You may want to keep up to date on automotive news before you post bold statements or proclaimtions here. The dullest person on this board is more up to date with what's going on than most every car magazine you'll find at the local 7-11. If you were up to date with the news, you'd know that GM's North American "volume" RWD program is on hold till GM gets their new full size trucks out. You'd also know that Mark Reuss of GM's performance division has already essentially told us what the Camaro will be based on and what suspension it would have. And you'd also know that there's other people here, one person especially, who has been telling us as much as he's allowed, considering his position.
This isn't your typical site where anyone logs on and says anything while everyone else eats it up. I suspect the average age here is somewhere around 30+. I'd say 2/3s actually own a Camaro, a Mustang, or a recently new GM model. You have automotive writers here. You also have industry insiders. You have people here who spend most of the day surfing the internet looking for any new or intresting automotive news. In short, your're running in bigger circles here than perhaps you would in Autoweek or Car&Driver fourms.
To give you a heads up, CheersandGears as well as GMInsideNews are much the same way, and there's alot of cross decking between these 3 sites, so you have to know what you are talking about there too.
Not flaming you or anything, just giving a little perspective.
BTW: the 2007 model year starts in just over 5 months, so no, of course there isn't going to be a 2007 Camaro.
