Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
I'm 23. It would take a lot to beat my Camaro I call her "WHITE LIGHTNING" she will once rule the world.
I hope your right on the camaro comming out I'm willing to spend 30K on it, but I just dont think it will happen.

Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
If I'm so wrong ( I hope I am) in saying that the camaro is not comming out then give me something to read that proves me wrong? I belive I've read about everything out there?
Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
Yeah, I didn't post my response letter for 2 reasons. #1 its just about the same as everyone else's in the Save the Camaro name thread. And most importantly #2 I'm just about as pc illiterate as they come, and couldn't link something if my life depended on it.
And finally.........Damn I was really hoping a Camaro would be out soon!

There was an interesting bit in an unexpected place the other day. I was reading an article on MSN about GM pricing, and at the end they stated that GM
and Chrysler would have out a car each to directly fight the Mustang in 2008.

Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
Whitelightning, you really should do a search before posting on a fourm like this. Otherwise you are likely to get flamed to a toasty crisp.
When you come toa website called CamaroZ28.com, then go to a thread called 5th gen & future vehicles, you have to automatically assume that you are dealing with a group of people that know a little bit about the subject, or at the very least the subject is up to date.
A couple of other tips:
1. Just because Joe Schmoe sends an e-mail to GM, doesn't mean much. I hate to break it to you, but your form letter is over a year and a half old. In their reply to you, they mention that the plant where Camaro's made has no new product scheduled. Guess so..... the plant's been bulldozed for months.
2. It takes roughly 4-5 years to develop a new car, and depending on how big a deal it is, 18-36 months to get it to market once approved, depending on how many new parts are involved or if it's mainly a repackaging of an exoisting car. Anything started from scratch today would be ready for showrooms by 2010.... thats model year 2011.
3. You may want to keep up to date on automotive news before you post bold statements or proclaimtions here. The dullest person on this board is more up to date with what's going on than most every car magazine you'll find at the local 7-11. If you were up to date with the news, you'd know that GM's North American "volume" RWD program is on hold till GM gets their new full size trucks out. You'd also know that Mark Reuss of GM's performance division has already essentially told us what the Camaro will be based on and what suspension it would have. And you'd also know that there's other people here, one person especially, who has been telling us as much as he's allowed, considering his position.
This isn't your typical site where anyone logs on and says anything while everyone else eats it up. I suspect the average age here is somewhere around 30+. I'd say 2/3s actually own a Camaro, a Mustang, or a recently new GM model. You have automotive writers here. You also have industry insiders. You have people here who spend most of the day surfing the internet looking for any new or intresting automotive news. In short, your're running in bigger circles here than perhaps you would in Autoweek or Car&Driver fourms.
To give you a heads up, CheersandGears as well as GMInsideNews are much the same way, and there's alot of cross decking between these 3 sites, so you have to know what you are talking about there too.
Not flaming you or anything, just giving a little perspective.
BTW: the 2007 model year starts in just over 5 months, so no, of course there isn't going to be a 2007 Camaro.

Re: There Will Be No 2007 Camaro!!!
Well said, Guy.
And just a follow up, if you were to live in the Metro-Detroit area, you'd be even more faithful to the idea of the Camaro returning because well... let's just say, you'd have a lot of GM employees as friends.

The Hemi plant in Mexico is straining at the seams to meet demand (and this was BEFORE the Charger came out), yet Daimler is loathe to spend money on another plant to meet demand. The LX plant is running at max capacity and can't support another model, and no one today going to set up a new plant to make a car as unstable in sales as a RWD sports coupe.
DC is planning a smaller RWD LX based chassis in 2009, and I think this would be enough to support a new plant so a RWD sports coupe can be made.
Intresting tidbit. At the moment Chrysler's smaller LX and GM's Chi look like they are both coming out the same year making a round 2 of a new RWD Chrysler sedan coming out simultaneously with a competitor's FWD/AWD sedan.

guionM, can I save this to copy and paste when appropriate?
Better yet, can someone sticky this at the top of the forum as a must read before allowing to post?
