Test drove an Accord...
I feel fine about my vehicle choice (but thanks for your concern Doc
). And gee, it's too bad, some of the import fans on this site have trouble dealing with uncomfortable facts. (Deal with it!) But it's useful at this point - to recall the post that began this thread:
The thread starter did raise some good points - and it's difficult to deny that Honda has had quite a success with the Accord, a success that will almost certainly continue with the (somewhat bland) new model. However it wasn't me who first compared the Accord to a high-performance Grand Prix (again... SEE ABOVE
). So my mention of the Acura TL-S is directly related to this discussion. Why is there no Accord sedan 'performance' variant? THAT is a hole in Honda's lineup - intentional no doubt - which is filled in a medocre way by the TL-S.

Since when have you and facts have anything to do with one another?
You didn't "win" until you resorted to comparing a 10k dollar more expensive TL-S to the GXP on the grounds of comparable performance, as if that were the only qualification for comparing cars.
You then stated that the pre-08 CTS would be better compared to the RL, and when I showed the price range and size of the cars, you once again conveniently marched on.
The very fact that you see this whole thing as winning or losing proves that the only reason you came into this thread in the first place was to make yourself feel better about your GXP by belitting the Accord, and when that didn't work, you back pedaled as much as it took until you could feel like you had "won".
Yeah, I agree with that at least
This thread has been interesting, if only because the TL is going to be around next year and the Grand Prix isn't. IMO, the GP missed the mark in a number of ways -- particularly in the interior. I think GM is being smart by positioning the G8 closer, if not in, that Entry Lux market, and people will be a lot more likely to cross-shop them with the Acura and so on.

The Accord and TL are not only "around," but are doing supremely well. Somehow, they seem to think there is a market for not one but two FWD sport-sedans. GM, the much bigger car company with more brands than it knows what to do with, somehow can't seem to fill this hole even though the potential is there.
That a scrapped together W-Body performance vehicle stirred up as much attention as it did shows there is an immense amount of potential for Pontiac to compete in this market. The G8 will be fantastic, but will not sell at the sort of volume that FWD cars like GP, G6, and Accord do. Meanwhile, the G6 is in desperate need of a refresh. Why not spend a couple of pennies and give the G6 a tighter suspension, more hp, and yes, a manual transmission.

As for why they don't want to go with a more performance oriented Accord? I'm guessing it would cannibalize sales of the TL. Why do that, when the TL sells so well?
The number of facts that you have stated in this thread that I have flat out proven incorrect, and you have conveniently ignored is insane. It's even more insane for you to say something so childish as to how "you won" and "the losing side", etc.
