But again, that's not entertaining. I have no problem with their 'test', but it's unfortunate that some of their viewers will inevitably be stupid enough to actually believe the M5 is more fuel efficient in real world driving.
That was their point though, and they said it very well. WHAT you drive often times doesn't matter as much as HOW you drive it. They said it very clearly, so if people are so stupid as to believe the M5 is more fuel efficient, well, you can explain things to people as much as you want but you can't make them understand it

If you drive a Prius at some range between feather-footed and "normal" and you drive an M3 to keep up with that Prius, the Prius is going to get double the mileage of the M3.

The real point of their exercise is that an economical car driven at its limits will get similar mileage to a performance car that's just following behind it. That doesn't have a lot of real world implications.

Yet, the way they gave their demonstration and stated their point, people would assume a feather-footed M3 would be capable of returning Prius-like mileage. It won't even be close.

Interesting point, and I agree with you...

And I'd have body parts in my trunk and someone's head dangling from my rearview mirror.

Your camaro didn't come with body parts in the trunk? Have you spoke to the dealer?
