I notice around where I live that the typical person you would expect to want/buy a Camaro is buying a new/used M3.
I've seen that too. When you get past a certain age...oh say 25-30y.o....and you tell people you like Camaros, they'll look at you funny.

Yes...many people out here consider Camaros as "little kids' cars".

I think we need to work on that.

I am not trying to offend anyone here, but everyone stereotypes people. We all can be ignorant. Alot of people that post here like to stereotype, but that's different because usually the typical stereotype spoken about here are the "ricers"(this is ok). But were I am from the majority of the people that drive Camaros fit those stereotypes that I mentioned above (don't want **** any more people off so I won't use them). If GM wants to sell alot of Camaros they have to also give it an image boost so it can appeal to a broader audience. Thats the way I feel. Know one has to agree with me, and you probably don't.

I spoke to you about this before and I think you agreed that most people that are interested in your car tend to fit my previous description. When you say people look at you funny one person comes to mind.... just guess who.

And that's why Camaro needs to do better on the image front. It's not only about competing with Mustang. People considering a G35 Coupe should also be considering a Camaro. People interested in a 350Z or BMW 330i should also be interested in Camaro.

Peolple in there 40's and 50's shouldn't feel stigmatized about owning Camaros.....they should be envied.

Red....any comments?

I think a lot of you are underestimating Camaro a bit. There are those people that do think redneck etc. But there are many...and I mean MANY who get excited when they get to see the car up close or ride in it.

Many times I have gotten comments going through drive thru's. More than once it's been mistaken for being a Corvette. Younger Highschool age and early College students understand it's performance and are still drawn by it's looks. My sister (9 years younger than me) had a number of pics of students camaro's/firebirds in her High School yearbook and she just graduated this year. And then there are those that don't realize they made Camaro's through 2002 and are impressed with what they see.

The reputation needs a boost, but it's not in as bad a shape as it seems a number of people here believe. The lack of major updates since 93 hurt more than anything else.

That hurt...but so did a whole bunch of other things.

The next one needs to be a FIRST RATE effort......no excuses.

Nearly all of them.

Maybe not all of them, but certainly 5 or 6 of them.

The Z28 should be the high performance model. It should come with a stock 12 bolt, built up trans, lightweight racing wheels and stripes, very stiff suspension. Basically race car ready just waiting for more hp.

The SS should be the Bling Bling appearance package with chrome 18 inch rims, hood, spoiler, underbody lights, tints, and a pounding system.

Both cars should drive completely different with the exception of the same powerful engine. The Z28 should feel like a true race car and the SS should feel like a luxury sedan.

That's just wrong. You want the Z to be what it's been from the early years, but you want to ruin the SS. Why do you feel so intimidated by another competitive model of your favorite car?

The words "Bling Bling" and "Camaro" must never be used in the same sentance.

I don't want any Camaro turned into an overblown "ricer".

Maybe not even the first four years.

Numbers matching original Z/28's aren't cheap. 68's and 69's might go for $40-50K and an original 67 will easily be in the $50-70K region.

The SS should have all the options possible, anything available that can be thrown at it. Auto this, self adjusting that, it's own looks, (something every 5th model needs to have) and a nice, sharp, but compliant suspension. The Z28 should have limited options, high G suspension, bigger brakes, and don't leave out the stripes.

So, basically.....Z28 would become what the 1LE in the 4th gen was....only with the possibility of a unique drivetrain and small styling changes. Right?

Pretty much, kinda like the 1st Gen. The SS would be the most bought model probably, the fast car you could drive everyday with all the luxuries while the Z28 would be all-performance focused and have a "2nd car" role.

I'd really like the Z28 emblem to become something to watch out for again. There wouldn't be that many around, but when you come across 1, look out!!
