Speaking of China

The Chinese goverenment is on the verge of passing a new policy that would force foreign car manufactuers wiht assembly plants in CHina to HAND OVER their PROPRIETARY DESIGNS, TOOLING and MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY!!!

I guess this will speed up their cloning process.

I say when you work with the enemy you get what you deserve.

Oh but some on this board don't see them as an enemy and would say their government is just as "good" as the United States...in fact, some see the United States as the only "bad guy" in the mix.

For those with a more realistic view, we can see that the United States isn't just bending over to make it easier but we have to bring our own Vaseline.

I feared this from day one when I heard about it and if it comes to pass thats just bad biz practice.

smart for them, they will clone everything. But still thats pretty messed up a country would do that like China when they have so much invested in becoming something more than a huge 3rd world country.

Really, I always thought China was overrated as this new hotbed market....waaaaaay too overrated to let the home turf go to hell.

It was only a matter of time. Blueprints were already getting swiped, so why not take the whole kitten kaboodled before long?

let the home turf go to hell?? cant change people preceived opinion of quality overnight. Its not the black and white man..not by a long shot. And who said GM is letting the home turf go to hell??
we are in a huge hole were trying to climb out of that the public wont help out.
and the funny thing is GM is the #1 car maker in China. and Toyota is not there yet.

how long have you been posting in this forum. at first glance it looks like you need to do some more reading before you make blanket comments like that to some of the people here.

Some people just don't live in reality, they are stuck in fantasyland.

The vasoline, I am constantly saying the same thing, literally. Took the words out of my mouth. I hope this does not mean that we will be a bit amiable towards each other.

Its simple, if you dont want their policies, dont deal w/ them. There are other countries w/ cheap labor and more manufacturer-friendly laws. The problem is, some people in this board consider different cultures and beliefs the enemy. Just because they're not democratic, they're evil already. Im just saying, its their country, they can pass any law they want. Nobody is forcing anybody to deal with China.

You are right but the almighty buck is more important that our sovereignty.

I don't think I remember anyone saying that in this thread. Sure their evil. How about 50 million people killed by the Chinese in the 20th century? THe worlds #1 sponser of terroism? I could go on but if you don't think that is evil then I have nothing else to say.
