uh, there's already a 290hp 4.7L V8 for the trucks, other than fitting the ginormous (internally) 6 for one application in the Colorados, what would be the point?
I'd bet the I5 is going to get a bump in displacement in a year or two and there are always the turbo rumors flying around... having said that, I'd think it would have been a good idea to offer a Diesel in the Colo.

Many are saying the 4.8L displacment is dead in a year or so.
I'd also like to see a Diesel Colorado.

yeah, i meant the 4.8L. if it's going away, what do they have to replace it? isn't it the base engine on the full-sized trucks? they're just going to bump the base engine up to the 5.3L? maybe there is another truck engine in the works, we just don't know about it.

I guess the 275HP 4.2L I6 is going to replace the 4.3L V6 and 4.8L V8. I don't know when though.

With DOD, perhaps GM believes there's no reason to have a V8 smaller than 5.3 litres.

I doubt that that will happen. The I6 costs more to build than the V8s, which runs contrary to the idea of having a "base" engine. I would guess it wouldn't fit either; it might physically be able to be shoehorned in, but then you open up a can of worms with achieving crash test standards.

Cost might be an issue, but remember it is a DOHC inline 6 not DOHC V6. It should be as expensive as a DOHC V6 to build since it only has 2 cams and 1 head vs. 4 & 2 in the V6
