Depending on the date the photo was taken, why can't it be an early Camaro concept that was dumped in favor of the one we got?

Notice the red Concept is parked in front of the photoboard.

There's been plenty of pictures on Camaro's design evolution. The pic on the wall certainly doesn't seem to be one of them.

Not anymore. Basically after the marketing guys do their studies they go to the appropriate design studio to come up with something that fits what they're looking for. The division general manager's team has "some" input, but they don't have say over the design and they don't guide it's direction. That falls to the design department's head.

Up the stream, there's certain checks and balences (ie: Welburn, Lutz, & Wagoner), but Ed Pepper doesn't have a "Chevrolet design studio" at his disposal. The studio that's doing the Impala might also have a clay of the next Cadillac a few yards away, and pictures of the next GTO on the wall on the other side of the room.

Guy, I could be wrong but didn't you mention not that long ago that there was talk of a smaller RWD car being developed that might have a possibility of seeing the light of day... could this be it???

Well, could this be one of those new fangled "4 door coupes?"

At first that's what I thought, but after the AH-HA add on, seems possible.
