I don't particularly think the GT is a bad $150,000 car... but when I saw that the post about how McLaren couldn't build a supercar for $150,000 that was just ridiculous. It is more like "McLaren couldn't build the best supercar ever made for $150,000." I think the GT is probably worth over $100,000, just as the McLaren is worth $1,000,000.

If I had the money to buy that car, I would buy it over any other car out there in a hearbeat. However, I think for it to be truly be seen as the best of the best, it needs to look a little more different than a normal Corvette. Ive heard the Z06 being bashed for being awesome but looking like a 45k C6. If we have the possibility of having a 100k+ Corvette, it needs to look more exotic than just adding a lil fender flare and a different hood. I dont know what exactly they could do, but it should be something.

And to the buying public, the GT is definitly worth a lot more than the 150k msrp, and the Mclaren F1 is definitely worth over a mill to just about anyone that knows about the car. Both are incredible machines, the F1 more so.
As we speak, GT's are still going for 40-60k over msrp.
The question with the BD vette is wheather the buying public will buy into a 6 figure vette. Personally, i don't buy into it just because of the incredible value the z06 already represents, but i'm not the buying market either. It'll be a tough sell i think, but i could be wrong.
Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
Yeah I think there is a market for an over the top vette in limited numbers as there is probably more than enough vette guys who have pockets deep enough. That said I agree with gold rush. The BD is a hard sell because the Z06 represents that much of a value.
and I dont see the BD as GM taking the lead, they've been there done that with the Z06 (the BD being nothing more than sabre rattling).
Is it nice? yeah, just like the Ford GT is nice, but the BD just like the GT doesn't prove a whit.

If the Blue Devil is truly coming with 600+hp, then think of all the possibilities for the rest of GM's lineup. Remember the unwritten rule that nothing tops the Corvette in performance. The Blue Devil significantly raises the bar for other GM vehicles, meaning that 500+ hp "Chevy Coupes", GTOs, Silverado SSs, and V-Series Caddies all become a possibility

ZL1?
Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
I wonder what people would think if the Blue Devil turns out to actually be a Super XLR-V in a Corvette body?
Cadillac could get away with selling a $125k XLR that makes 600ish hp and has a special carbon fiber body and nobody would complain.
