Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....

ummmm.....hello!

The vette is already a leader and isn't second fiddle to anything... granted it may not post the top numbers in bench racing, but can somebody tell where your getting a better deal than the vette? I'm fairly confident you dont have access to the the level of performance that a base vette offers for less than 80 or 90k, and with the Z06, your getting performance in the 100k+ territory.

And by performance I don't just mean 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times.

Dodge Viper and Ford GT = 2nd fiddle to the vette.

Now if Dodge and Ford could bring the cost down and accessiblity up, then yeah the vette might have something to worry about, but like people in hell getting a cup of ice water, I dont see it happening.

IMO, wasted resources that could have been put toward what most people on this board are clamoring for!

Of course, I won't be able to afford one, but its still awesome! Cien, now that would be awesome too! GM is the best in the world, as far as I'm concerned, its just a matter of getting the product out there, a little faster! This is definately a step in the right direction! And I doubt there will be any shortage of people who do have the cash, once they see what this BD can do!

That needs to be GM's new motto. It needs to be plastered onto every computer screen, every cubicle wall, every office, every breakroom, every design lab, and in every factory that GM operates. I'm talking huge 20 foot banners. Then every single manager and employee needs to memorize this. Somebody should come up with a cheer or something to incorporate this. Then everybody in the office will pause for a minute or two and gather around and yell this at the top of their lungs every day until it finally sinks into EVERY SINGLE LAST PERSON working for GM.

As for the Blue Devil, I don't think GM has the cajonies to build it. I think the only way this will get approved is if Lutz rams it through.

You can argue other companies, like GM, Toyota, can't build a supercar for 150k.. cause they haven't...

Not knocking the Z06.. its a beast, and it'll probably hang/beat out the Ford GT for half the cost...

But its still no exclusive supercar.

Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....

I think it's overkill, and the price beyond corvette limits, but i like it .

To be honest with ya, i'd prefer they come up with a all-new supercar alltogether. Perhaps have it share platforms with the vette, but make it compeltely different. Some thought the 65-72k asking price on z06 was a little too rich for corvette's blood (i think it it a great value), but this blue-devil's 100k price true sticker shock to me. Perhaps this was a task better suited for a new high-end sports car other than the vette?? People in the 100k price range dig exclusivity, and a blue-devil sharing most of its exterior looks with a 44k-65k 30,000 unit a year c6 kinda kills exclusivity if you know what i mean.

Either way, this is definitly something i'd like to see.

I am a life long Corvette fan....

But...... If GM was truely going to do a 6-figure supercar, it should have been the Cadillac Cien, like poSSum said..

I agree but the BD is not where to start. Haven't they already delivered a stunning C6 and Z06? If you think a BD is just now starting on Corvette you've missed the last 2 yrs.

Its time to move on to other product lines that are sorely lacking, I.E. a CAMARO...

Anyway to build the Cein off the C6?

While I think the blue devil would be greatness, I'm leaning towards the Cein too

What would happen if a Ford GT raced a McLaren F1 around a racetrack?

Cien was mid-engine, so I doubt it.... they'd need a complete new platform for it..... but, at $150,000-200,000+ per unit, you'd think that wouldn't be something that couldn't happen.

It DID(keyword) exist according to a very good source but the 'blue devil' burn to the ground at the Milford proving grounds last spring and the project was scrapped.

Ferraris aren't that much more expensive than the GT is. At least the ones that matter aren't (ignoring there hyperexotic cars.)

I am glad to see GM doing this. Finally, something on impulse, that says "were the best." This is the kind of thinking that GM really has been missing for so long.
