So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
ahh.. are you saying, you'd think that would be something that could happen? (as in $150-200k, its possible?)
Those two not's threw me off..

Ya, I threw the double negative in there!

Yes, I am saying that at a retail price of $150,000-200,000+ , it shouldn't be a huge issue to design a specific platform for it.... especially since other companies, without the resources of the world's largest auto-maker, have been able to do it.
Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
I really would like to see a Cien too, but a super vette is also bad@$$! S/C 427 in an even lighter corvette?
I'd say its worth it just for the bragging rights alone, not to mention good public perception.
I will say that if this car does come to reality, I dont think its too far fetched to believe that one day, the new Cadillac will eventually get its exotic supercar....

Yeah I knew that but why not just work the Cein’s sheet metal around to make it fit on a front engine rwd platform? It might not look exactly the same but on the C6 platform we could still get a Caddy supercar.
I’m sure for $100,000 a car Cadillac could engineer this car.
Hell even better, build the Corvette version that weighs nothing and puts out 700 hp, then just like the XLR and the base Vette, Cadillac could slap on the Ceins sheet metal and sell it for $150,000. Shoot the caddy could run with a slightly smaller pulley and put a few more hp on the vette too.
Works for me

I think your post has been over looked. Can you elaborate?
Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
Yeah, please elaborate! What about BD burning down?
As far as the Cien! It wouldn't be Cien if it was built off the Vette, AFAIK it was a Carbon Fibre Chassis!
I was dying to see them build that car, it was awesome, and I do hope one day soon they get on with building something like that!

My guess... the aged Mclaren F1 would blow the GT so far into the weeds it wouldn't even be funny, especially since the front susepnsion would fall out of the Ford GT while the crank spilled oil all over the rear tires - way to go Ford - sure did build that one Ford tough with quality being job one.

Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
Gotta' remember that to do the BD was cheaper because all the Corvette body stuff was already done...and used for all Z06's...the Cien would have required all that stuff to be designed, produced, and an assembly line built....would have brought the costs up 50% - 100%.
Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
wow, when ford has a 125k mustang race car and GM makes a production car at around 100k that will send the stang home crying... whats not to be happy about!
but i want to be the first to claim this. 5 bucks says
The engine is moved backwards like the c6r for better balance.

Re: So it's not just a fairy tale any more....
I have to also ask the question too, what is the point? Everyone knows that the Vette is bacially the sports car of the working man. Why build a 100k Vette? There maybe a few Vette owners that will buy one, but most of people that are looking at 100k+ sport cars are not looking for something everyone else is driving. Your talking about some nice Euro cars, Porshe 911 Turbo, and Brit cars. What is Chevy going to prove with the BD that eveyone already doesn't know? While it will be nice to see the Vette show the Super car builders how to do it, most cars in that price range are hand built and the Vette better be up to suit.

I think that many non "hard core" fans will miss that point however, so you have a valid point.

Ford is also building a 40,000 dollar mustang that will put the mustang race car on the trailer.
How much is the C6R a copy?
