Severe quality issues with new Mini Coopers!

If you guys didnt already know this but it appears that those 1st and 2nd year Mini Coopers are plagued with alot of problems from wind-shields cracking, CVT trannies surging and stalling, coolant leaks, interior paint peeling off, seats tearing, and tons of rattles.

check it out @ http://www.mini2.com/forum/forumdisp...?s=&forumid=16

I guess American-made cars arent so bad in comparison.

Wow, cool!!! Sorry, I just love seeing imports breaking left and right while I drive an "inferior" Camaro that has done nothing in 2 years and 10,000 miles of ownership but haul azz, and a Grand Am that the worst thing it has done since I bought it new is have a bushing squeak

yea, my POS z28.....it has only 115k miles on it and i had to replace the temp sensor once...POS!!! I'm trading in this for an import. Oh yea, a side tank on my radiator cracked and i had it replaced......cost me $65 bucks!!!!! I could have used that towards vynl stickers on a import !!!!!

Go to he!! GM!

If a person has suntan lotion on their leg and if it touches the Mini silver interior paint it will cause the paint to peel off. I guess the chemicals in suntan lotion dont react well with the interiors paint and it causes it to get soft and peel and flake off.

Now thats high quaity!!

I guess initial quality has absolute no relation to longterm reliability and I thought the Mini's interior is by far the coolest for any car under $25,000 ( its not very comfortable either)

Strange to think that something made by BMW is of poor quality.

When you're comparing something to a British car, it almost always seems "not so bad"

But, hey, it's a neat little car, and there's plenty of F-bodies owners out there that will probably say that personality compensates for quality at least some of the time.

I'd ask you if you're kidding...but for some reason that seems to stupid for someone to merely dream up

BMW quality ain't what alot think it is. I know a dude with 1 and its a piece, mid-later 90's car. My 89 RS has no problems compared to these cars today, especially since it still never really never needs any mechanical or cosmetic attention, just looks the same, acts the same, and starts everytime. People don't know how to build cars to last anymore. Or either they do it so you'll get a new 1 in a few years.

Yes the Mini's interior paint does peel off if it gets in contact with suntan lotion since the drivers right leg always contacts the center console and if a person is wearing shorts and has suntan lotion on its a recipe for disaster.

I really liked how the Mini's interior looked and especially how it was actually painted but that silver interior paint is not durable enough for its intended application.

As I've said in past posts, I love the trend the German and Japanese car companies are taking. Styling nobody likes combined with sub par quality!
