Sedan and Wagon Mustangs???
DeLorean was obcessed with having a kammaback F-body. he tried doing it with the Camaro while he was running Chevy a few times. I'm also pretty sure Pontiac had a concept Trans-Am Kammaback in the 70's.
The mustang platform would be their best chance of doing something like DC has done with LX (soon to be LY). But I wouldn't be a fan of a straight stang' wagon.

And quite possibly cause an uproar bigger and more entertaining than the 4-door Charger did.......
Would this be an issue at all if Detroit could built an enthusist's sedan that came with a stick shift, didn't weight close to or over 4000, and quite honestly didn't rely on needing a V8 engine for excitement?
Actually one of my Camaro books has photos of a clay done in 1966 showing a proposed 1968 Camaro Wagon. One side of the clay even had a vinyl top.
And you know something? It actually looked kind of cool.
Think about it though. If Ford were to offer a 4-door sedan version of the Mustang, and a 5-door wagon, it would give buyers an alternative to BMW's 3-series. (Not that the quality, or performance of Ford would match BMW's.)
It's an interesting proposal to say the least. I just don't see it happening for Camaro though. What with a new Malibu and Impala, they already have plenty of options other than bastardizing the Camaro name.

Well, gotta say I hate mini-vans so much I'd rather walk, and seeing as how I grew up riding in the back seat of a station wagon, IF I had a family (or needed something like a station wagon), I'd buy a mustang station wagon, always liked the BMW and Mercedes wagons, and a sporty 300+ hp mustang based wagon that could be tuned up with parts from the coupe would be down right tempting, Saleen Extreme Wagon anybody
Nobody has pointed out the line from the story that states that the Aussies are supplying this. Yes I'll gladly take turbo straight 6 with a 6 speed! The Fords from down under are amazingly bad-@$$ cars, and the idea of them being here brings a smile to my face.
