If the top N/A motor goes to 6.2L and makes say 450 HP in the base 'vette, you throw on the blower to make 575 HP for the Z06.. That doesn't really leave any room for the handbuilt big dollar LS7 in between.
Ive been thinking the same thing. Theyve been testing this car for a real long time. more than it seems they normally would if it was pretty much just an engine upgrade

Holy Crap! YOU'RE STILL AROUND?? I thought you left years ago. I never much wander from the Lounge, but came here today to check out some news on the Blue Devil.

People inside call it "SS".

It is NOT the "next Z06". Z06 will remain a separate model.

I suggest being skeptical of some of the "inside info" you see on Corvette Forum. There are a couple of guys there who are telling stories that aren't supported by the evidence.

I think it's pretty clear the LS7 is dead after MY2008 - just like the LS2 is dying as well. ODB-III still due in 2009? IIRC the 3800 V6 will also die when ODB-III comes out...

Base Vette: 6.2L 450hp
Z06: S/C 6.2L 600hp+
Blue Devil/SS: ???? 700hp+???

I still like Corvette Zora for the BD/SS, but until we actually see renderings/images of the car, I withold making a final judgement.

A very reliable source, whos information is usually spot on, leaked a timeline for the Vette by the end of the decade, and there were only two engines on the timeline: the 6.2 and a blown 6.2.

He is usually right it seems, and it would make sense.

What if they aren't all blue?? I guess they would need a blue stripe or something.

I don't really like the name Blue Devil, but it is worlds better than having a Corvette SS.

How about they all have blue engine covers, or a blue engine block, or powder coated blue S/C

Blue blocks are for fords...return to the red/orange blocks. For Blue Devils just make the small details blue...such as emblem, guages, control lighting, calipers, stiching and such.

The should call it ZR1

If it is a ray, should it be Sting Ray or Stingray?

Another avenue of speculation:

Does the 'Blue Devil' go racing in ALM or Speed World Challenge? Would a 'new' C6.R show up on the track before 'BD' hits the streets?

If the next top motor really is a blown 6.2 and not a variant of the 7L, wouldn't we see it in ALM or WC before production?
