Possible production names for the Blue Devil?

I've seen a bunch of names tossed around for the Blue Devil Corvette:

Corvette Zora
Corvette SS
Corvette Z06.R (although I'm pretty sure that already exists)

What do you think it should be called? I've been trying to think of other historic Corvette models, but the only special one that comes to mind is the Grand Sport.

I think the 'Stingray' name should be brought back for this variation.

If this highend version of the Vette is a good seller then I could imagine GM bringing out an entirely new upscale Sportscar above the Vett within the next 5 years and they would just call it the "Stingray" with no mention of the Vett anywhere on it.

I thought about the Stingray name too, but weren't all Corvette models during those years called "Stingrays"?

I'm not convinced we're talking about anything other than the next Z06 considering it seems it's still a couple of years away.

If the top N/A motor goes to 6.2L and makes say 450 HP in the base 'vette, you throw on the blower to make 575 HP for the Z06.. That doesn't really leave any room for the handbuilt big dollar LS7 in between.

Not based on any inside info, but I have the same sneaking suspicion.....

I thought Corvette Stingray was going on a special variant of the Solstice?

The C7 Corvettes are years away, yes. The "super" Vette starts production in July of 2008.

I was reading a few posts on a different Corvette themed forum that there are actually two different super Vettes in development. After the Z06 there will be a 100k version of a super vette blown with 600+ HP and then an uber super Vette with 700+ HP. The 600+ HP version was the one caught shipping to Germany a few months back. All this info is supposedly gleaned from an inside source that has begun speaking with certain individuals providing specifics. Of course this being the internet and all... Still it's being taken somewhat seriously on this other forum.

I'm not sure how accurate that is. From what I've gathered, the Z06 caught on film, is nothing more than a mule for the potentially next version of the Z06 which will sport a S/C 6.2L @ ~600hp. There's nothing to indicate the next Z06 will be anywhere near $100k. The "blue devil" is a different animal altogether.

I seem to recall a few "official" docs floating around on one of the Vette sites last year that said the same thing - two motors for MY2009, and neither of them is the LS7. No idea how truthful that may be, however.

If I can remember its been said that the name will be Corvette SS...I'd much rather see ZL-1, L88, Grand Sport, or possibly Z06.R

The Blue Devil is the best name so far.
