Re: Pontiac will cut '05 GTO production by 30%.

Personally, I think the Autoweek article was just about spot on when they said "Earlier, dealers had complained that the GTO suffered from bland styling and a high sticker price, and lacked incentives." Dealer markups certainly didn't help, but like it or not, a lot of folks thought it looked like any other Pontiac GP going down the road.

And please...I know the difference. I can tell the difference. I can appreciate the difference. But we - those of us that frequent this forum - are a very small minority of well-informed buyers.

And BTW...though the comment was not pointed at me specifically, I did (quite proudly) vote for GW Bush. I don't own a so-called "assault weapon", but I do have plenty of other guns, for which the right to own is guaranteed by our Constitution. If you'd like to consider me an idiot, I'm fine with that. I consider the source.

Good evening.

Ok, so we've established you really have no reason to catch air with a car, unless you want to be a jackass. You have made no valid defense for that. Point made.

You really think you only have 99 problems? I think a lot of us beg to differ...

Re: Pontiac will cut '05 GTO production by 30%.

Before it was apparent that '04 GTO sales figures would go down the crapper, Pontiac had planned for the next gen GTO to reach a wider audience.

In addition to the big motored RWD version, a 5.3 AWD GTO was planned.

Now that Pontiac considers it's next GTO to be the Pontiac Corvette, things have changed.

It appears that AWD may be cut from Zeta by the bean counter, and the 5.3 may be banished from all the Zeta coupes.

Attn Redzed and all GTO haters

Some comments from Motor Trend:

1:In fact, the GTO is so tastefully subdued, it'll surely disappoint those expecting the Vin Diesel treatment. Yet the muscle is there for those who appreciate subtlety.

2:The cabin has the sporty elegance of a BMW.

3: Fit and finish are the finest we've seen on a GM vehicle in decades. The body emits not a squeak and shimmies not a whit, parts gaps are tight and uniform (even on our preproduction pilot vehicle), the interior shapes flow smoothly into one another, and the materials are rich and handsome. Superb, beautifully stitched leather covers the wheel, the shift boot, and the seats. The seats themselves are simply spectacular, deeply bolstered for excellent support, and roomy enough to be accommodating for drivers of various sizes.

4: When we last tested a supercharged Ford Mustang SVT Cobra (another front-V-8, rear-drive two-plus-two priced in the mid-$30s), it bettered those numbers, reaching 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and nailing the quarter mile in 13.0 at 110.7 mph. But the track stats tell only a small fraction of the story. The aging Cobra is quick, sure, but driving it means putting up with its clunky personality and a suspension that clomps over the road as if it's wearing horseshoes. The GTO, in stark contrast--both to Ford's outgoing Mustang and to many previous GM machines--is all finesse and gracefulness. There's no penalty for the GTO's performance: The mighty Corvette engine is deliciously smooth and flexible (and makes exhilarating noises as it sweeps to its 6200-rpm redline), and the six-speed shifter moves as if cradled in a vat of precision goo. For sheer drivetrain refinement, the GTO easily matches Europe's best sporting coupes. And in a straight line, it'll smoke a similar rear-drive, V-8 two-door like the $52,000 Mercedes CLK500.

5:So the 2004 GTO isn't the rip-snorting, retro-themed muscle machine many die-hards may have been waiting for. We're not disappointed. What GM has delivered instead is a superbly crafted, tastefully styled, tautly muscled grand-touring car that stimulates your brain, not your kidneys. That such a suave machine wears the Pontiac badge may be the biggest--and the most pleasant--surprise of all.

Well I think that pretty much covers it.

Good evening.
I was stereotyping...much the way Red was about us Australians. Except I was trying to prove a point of stereotypes being stupid and irrational. I don't think every gun owner/GW Bush voter is an idot.

Maybe we need a Sarcasm smiley???

Although the "Assualt Weapons" I was referring is the temporary ban that Clinton had on those guns which ran out this year. (Or was it last year)??? Now anyone who thinks they need an Ak-47 or Uzi, who is not in some type of Armed Forces/Security type role I will unequivocally label them "idiot". Or at the very least a dangerous individual who I wouldn't want to associate with.

Anyway sorry Bob if I offended you....that RedZed just annoys the hell out of me. Normaly I ignore he's crap...today I took the bait and bit back.

You know, for all the GM smack talk you throw out, and how much praise you give to others, if I remember right, you are still driving a 1996 Camaro that you bought new. Seems that even though GM's products are "Crude and Unrefined", and others, in particular imports are so perfect.... they just aren't good enough to get you to part with any cash over the last 8-9 years

Since redzed has popped back into this thread and still not answered these questions (glanced over the first one, but I'd like more detail)... but ESPECIALLY the second one.... I'll quote myself for the THIRD time in this thread and see if a response happens.

Anthony--

Don't kid yourself and give credit to Bill Clinton for banning assault weapons for private sale. Gun manufacturers just modified those guns a little and sold them anyway. Those firearms could then be modified to perform the way they were intended to...

Sorry for going off topic

Re: Pontiac will cut '05 GTO production by 30%.

i have figured this "redzed" guy out...

I did a shearch on his name , and you see a pattern developing..

firstly, he thought the ending of the f-body line of cars would make his camaro skyrocket in value - wrong, and nothing else could take its place.... do you see what im getting at, can you see why he is butt-hurt?

he was thinking it would be the same as the b-body caprices , where in subsequent year after their discontinuation the value actually went up.

its ok red... youre not alone.. (group hug)

Ya know , I wish everyone would just ignore redzed . I'm getting so god damn sick of all the personal bitching back and forth in several threads that I really dont care to come in here anymore . The more you feed the fire by responding the bigger the fire gets . To the point now , I think he's just saying things to see how fired up he can make a few certain people that post in this forum . Redzed clearly likes the personal challenges and will continue to clearly state his opinion regardless for which he has a right , I just skip and not even read his posts because I completely disagree with most of what he has to say . Take the personal attacks and bickering to email people .......please and thank you!!!!!! Now IIII'm probably the bad guy for saying a thing , but damn , I bet alota people are at least thinking the same thing .

Re: Pontiac will cut '05 GTO production by 30%.

90 Z28SS hit the nail on the head. Redzed never responds to any challenges against him, brings up new points, which again are wrong. Whether he does this on purpose or not matters little. Having said the above, the problem with simply ignoring his dribble is that there are plenty of people who come to this site for credible information on a number of things. What his blatant misinformed posts do is simply spread fabricated deceit, but many do not know how to distinguish what's a fact and what's an opinion. Redzed always posts his opinions as universal facts.

There is a name for such posters - trolls. Previously trolls were banned from this site, and seeing as how redzed causes quite a reaction from the community, perhaps he is to blame and not the rest of the community. Will anything be done about it? As long as he has the right to post whatever he wants, there is nothing preventing the rest of the community to post whatever it wants, specifically credible information to discredit his lies. If any action is to be taken, it should start with redzed first. And it will keep things calmer around the entire forum.

You're definitely correct, and I have thought about completely ignoring him...

But he asks for it, so, so badly...I just feel the need to respond. I probably shouldn't, but he just asks for it...

I can appreciate the need to fire back at old Redzed here, bub, but watch who you go painting with that brush.

I'm a GWB supporter. Keep your ignorant Aussia *** out of our politics, ********. If we want your opinion, we'll give you one.

"Assault" weapons were ALWAYS available during the "ban". What was removed during the ban were bayonet lugs and flash suppressors. Now, at times people get shot with guns in the US, but how many people got BAYONETED??? The law was beyond stupid and banned NOTHING. Please tell me what the difference in lethality is between an AR-15 WITH a bayonet lug and one WITHOUT a bayonet lug.

Also, I happen to be one of those "idiots" who owns an "assault weapon"... actually, more than one. And since my RIGHT to do so was enshrined in the most important document of the last... oh... 500 years, I'll continue to exercise that RIGHT.

Since you obviously don't understand the law, I'd suggest you do some reading next time before you go taking pot-shots at the 51% of the United States who told the lefties here to "go to hell".

Unlike the rest of western civilization, we'd prefer not to be under-armed, over-taxed, socialism'd sheep.

One more thing...

I'll take an American Democrat over a European or Aussie socialist any day of the week. Hell, I'd for for Howard Dean first... ***SHUDDER***

1. I don't talk politics on this or any other board. Don't assume anything about my politics.

2. Since you Aussies just re-elected right-winger John Howard as PM, it seems that the Australia is pretty much in tune with the Bush administration when it comes to matters of foriegn policy. Look to your own government if you've got criticism, not mine.

3. I haven't listened to GreenDay in years. Pseudo-punk Alternative music has been dead for many years. Get with the program.
