Oh, I betcha quite abit more than that. Denny Mooney said last month that if Commodores are exported as Pontiacs to the US, they's be high content SS's. I would guess they would be priced at around the GTO's price point.

Once Pontiac's got their lineup settled whenever that may happen , I think the only car that wont be nameless will remain to be the Solstice .

I hope Im wrong with my thoughts

HA! Isn't that something?!

Actually, Denny Mooney and the rest of Holden were publicly pushing for this all summer long, so it's been no secret. Keep in mind that anything imported from Holden will come here in limited numbers. 20,000 is a figure that's been thrown around.

And that means they will all be high-end units too, like GTO? No particular options, ect..

I don't know. Names can change at the last minute though.

We should also be talking about this smaller RWD platform.

I hope you are wrong too. The cars that sell have alphabet soup names so our cars would sell if they did too.

Add to that the letter "G" for no apparent reason + Numeral that roughly pertains to vehicle size... Is as generic as you can get. Hey. maybe thats what the "G" stands for.

I agree so ok; now before I type this I am just thinking out load, but could this be a good starting point for a possible firebird rebirth. I know that Lutz said that it would be a 4cy, rearwheel drive car but it could (later on if it gains momentum) into a f.i. 6 or maybe V8.?. I know that most firebird owners will cry and complain but I think it would make since and it could possibly better the firebird name in the long run. Also are we still talking 4 doors or is it leaning towards a 2 door version on the Torana? Dont get me wrong I am not "hating" on the firebird heritage but if GM was to bring back the name I think this car would fit the bill and differentiate itself from the Camaro instead of competing again it. Right or wrong its just a thought..

My thinking on this firebird deal is if it is going to be a 2 door if not and they decide to use 4 then it will need a different name.

Not this again...

Why shoehorn Firebird onto the car when it doesen't fit?

Why pigeonhole a car that for the domestics would be pretty revolutionary into the Firebird scheme?

Why deal with, "Where's the V8?" "Why is Camaro better" "Where is Trans/Am" "Why does it have four doors?"

Its not like Pontiac is hurting for names use, assuming we're using actual names. Is the extra sales you may get really worth the people you will **** off, or at least confuse?

Again, Im all for a coupe/sedan RWD entry car for Pontiac. They need this almost as bad as Cadillac does. Just dont call if Firebird.

Article seems to imply North American assembly, not imported.

However Lutz’s admission to drive.com.au confirms the rumours that the Commodore could be built in markets such as the United States to provide a large, rear-drive car to help revive General Motors’ ageing vehicles.
And maybe you guys should start a "Perpetual argument about Pontiac car names" thread
