Re: Official HHR pics.

Hated the sketches and drawings of it.........

......but LOVE the finished product! A really nice, classy looking little ute. Plus a refined interior and a manual tranny! I'd say Chevy has a winner with this one and can see why Red defended it a ways back when we scolded it.

Btw guion, I agree on the truck nose thing. Now THAT would really set apart Chevy trucks from the pack, except in a good way.

I like it. Hopefully GM is smart enough to not put the MSRP at like $29,995. At ~$20k base this car would sell like stink.

Surprised that there's no horsepower option to compete with the PT Cruiser GT though. Nothing even close. Maybe in the 2nd year.

I definitely agree. I skipped over this thread at first because I honestly didn't care. I had seen the concepts and not liked them at all, so I didn't really care about the finished product. But I'll be damned, that thing has somethin' goin' for it. Much more than I thought it would.

But a ~220 HP version is highly, highly needed.

Re: Official HHR pics.

i don't understand what market segment this thing is supposed to be geared toward? the low end is picked up by the Equanox, for the medium size there's the TrailBlazer, then there's the Suburban, etc. if this thing sells, it will be at the expense of those three rather than in addition to them.

what's the point???

PT / Scion xB segment. I assume this willl be CAFE rated as a truck? If so that is awesome and opends the door for trucks like the LS2 Colorado SS and maybe a 6.2L or V10 Silverado SS.

Yes, but then they'd all be belly-aching it's a Ram/Dakota rip off.

Now I'm convinced I was right!

This is a distinctive looking ride. If it had a bed, was the Colorado, and priced as a normal small truck, I think it would pretty much smash it's competitors pretty decisively. I also think it would stand out much better as a Trailblazer.

Instead, it's going to forever be linked as a competitor to the PT Cruiser, regardless as to how nice it looks (and I really like it... it actually looks better than GM's official drawings), and isn't going to be as distinctive and stand alone as a FWD crossover as it would have been as a mid size truck line.

BTW: Now THAT'S a good interior!
I would never have bought a Colorado if it had looked like that. HHR is nice but it looks too soft to be a 4x4 crew cab pickup. The mean/tough look is what I like about GMs current truck lineup. Saying the Colorado/Trailblazer should have been like the SSR/HHR is like saying the next Camaro should look like a VW new bettle. Colorado based SSR would have made a cool M80 style truck though.

very menacing look, an ss would top it all off if it had an ls2

Me too, and somehow it works better on the mid-size trucks (where it was designed in) versus the full-size trucks (where it was a grafted-on afterthought). While I would definitely consider buying a Colorado in the near future, I would definitely not buy one if it looked like an HHR.
