This is not a drill...or photoshop. Regal GS.
Both of those cars werent exactly fast or great handling stock either , yet the GS tag was fine then . I liked the GTPs and owned a 98 coupe , but my gf's v6 , manual trans Maxima was both qwiker and handled better and just was a nicer car all around . So the GS wasnt above average then either .
Yes, I do believe you've hit the nail squarely on the head, sir.
A couple of things.
GM was silly to open the hood. This is just an Insignia OPC with the Buick sheetmetal on it. Everything else is still the Opal. Thus, the Turbo 2.8L V6.
Also, on GMI, it was stated that the top end OPC weighs 4300lbs. If so, that is frightening. Remember that the Taurus SHO weighs 4300-4400lbs.

Just what is all over the web.

It does looks nice in the way the last gen TSX does..but it does not really get my heart racing. We have seen photoshopped OPC cars forever now.
If the car indeed does have a LNF in it..it will be a turd at 4300lbs. My wife had a MazdaSpeed6 for a while, which was similar in that it had AWD and a turbo 4. That car made more power than this Regal and weighed way less..yet it was not reaaly that much fun to drive. The High HP turbo 4's seem to to have no middle ground..in that you really have to wind them tight to get power.

Every site I've seen says just a hair over 4,000 lbs for the Insignia OPC...there is NO chance it will weigh as much as a Taurus that is a foot longer...whos info are you reading over there?
4,041 lbs
Edit: my math was off

For the OPC -base price is 44,900 Euro
converted to dollars that is ~ $31,500
So a fully loaded model in mid-to high 30's sounds about right

I love your work 'n all but on this [rare] occasion, you are wrong with your currency conversions... the Euro is stronger than the Greenback, therefore, converted to USD the price is somewhere around (1.00 EUR = 1.43590 USD) $USD65,000.

Although, I'm sure the price will be nowhere near that amount, especially given favorable currency exchanges on the G8 where Americans were paying far less than the conversion amount against the $AUS.

Also, most turbo cars these days have a flat torque curve from about 1800 RPM all the way to 5500 RPM, though the Mazdaspeed 6 was not in this group.
The LNF is . I havent seen a power band for the Regal version , but the Cobalt SS version it has full 260 lb/ft from 2200-5300 rpms . It really has virtually no turbo lag . In all honesties , this engine in a regal will likely feel stronger than Acura's n/a optional V6 in day to day driving . Their V6 makes a bit more hp( 280@6200) , but it makes alot less torque(254@5000) than the LNF and the V6's peak #'s are made higher in the RPM band . The TSX only weighs 3600 lbs though , so hopefully , given the fact the LNF weighs less than a fully dressed TT DOHC 2.8 in the OPC insigia , the regal will come in under 2 tons .
