While I know what you mean, we all know that's a fallacy. What, is the government going to distribute checks directly back to us whenever GM makes a payment? If a loan gets paid back and Detroit survives, giving the federal gov't a handsome profit on the whole deal, they're just going to put it in the coffers to drive some other project.

Any strings that will force offering vehicles people will not buy is not fair to the taxpayer.
Let us analyze who would be authorizing the loan and what their enviromental and social agendas are. Most definitely there will be added stipulations on fuel mileage, etc.....I wouldn't be suprised at anything short of Pelosi and her friends getting into GM's studios and trying to design the cars themselves.

One would fervently hope that although no dividend checks may be forthcomming, at the best, some reduction in deficit will be realized.

All in all I would rather deal with the tactical issues and keep up a fight than call it all lost and retreat from the field.

The more success you build into a situation, the more likely you get what you want back. On this we agree..
