HHR SS has a direct injected, 260 horse, turbocharged & intercooled engine (which Cobalt SS will also recieve before long). The performance difference between it and the regular HHR will be pretty spectacular. Top it off, the HHR is still cool.

Unless GM is going to strap a supercharger to the Malibu, by Chevrolet's new mandate, Malibu won't be called an SS. All future new SS badged Chevys will have substantial power upgrades.

Case in point, the new Equinox Sport was originally to be an SS. That was changed under Chevy's new edict because it's performance wasn't dramatically changed.

Expect a Malibu Sport after the 1st year.

I won't argue with that strategy.

Well, this leads me to believe that the Camaro with a "significant upgrade in power" will be a SS, not a Z28. :flamesuit:

What about the G6 plant? Epsilon is Epsilon and so any Epsilon could theoretically be built at any Epsilon plant w/ no troubles.

So it seems GM is trying to get some concessions before giving the plant a HUGE priority sedan, makes sense.

BTW anyone got a list of the plants on GM's bubble for closure after the negotiations?

Meh, not necessarily. Chevy (finally?) realizes that Camaro has its own unique heritage. The entry level V8 Camaro could still be a Camaro SS since it will have a significant power upgrade over the V6.

I think it could go either way without getting into another SS Z28 thread. SS would be consistant across the line as the top sport model like BMW's M but the Z28 reflects more what the top road racing camaro should be. The Z28 is also closer to the idea of the M while we are using that analogy. I think it should be Z28 and Z06 super cars, then Sting Ray and SS. Depends on how they decide to market it. The make up of what a Z28 actually is makes me drool...

You know what?

As long as the Z/28 comes with the NOT for the limp-wristed road race suspension, plenty serious wheel/tire combo, get down to business big brakes, very hot, rev-happy, smallblock ,....manul trans, weight control, great seats/shifter/pedals and badass attitude and stance - I don't really give a **** what they do with the SS.

Maybe they can continue the tradition of numbered floor mats for the SS though. That was always cute.
