Here we go again! Chevrolet stealing designs from Pontiac! 1964 Pontiac X-833 Banshee and the 1968 corvette. Take a look and tell me what you think. BTW, the Banshee would've killed the 'vette so chevy cried and pontiac never got to release it. Just my opinion

Since Bob Lutz has his hands all over EVERY new design at GM, the Solstice isn't really a "Pontiac" design. The badge says Pontiac, but it could've just as easily been a Chevy, Buick, or Saturn...

And again I say, it's nice for a small 20 thousand dollar roadster, but NOT as a Corvette. Please let this be some %$#&-ed up magazine concept.

Soooo....if this is what it is supposed to look like now...can you imagine what it looked like before Bob Lutz told them to fix it?

Looks like they couldn't get an illustrator for the story and resorted to a last minute photoshopped Solstice.

Remember the photoshopped SSR that they tried to pass off as a Camaro last year? EEK!

I agree that it looks like R&T just photoshopped a Pontiac Solstice and added styling ques that were leaked to them from official GM sources.

I assume the real C6 will look great and have more "Sting-Ray" styling elements and will be really unique looking when it finally hits the streets.

oh my... I thought maybe they could hold on to their mojo at least for the new vette. It looks like they've dropped it on that one too. I'm REALLY disappointed. Sure, that's not the final production model, but does anyone remember what the new viper looked like before it got actually built when they published it in R&T? It wasn't too far off from the new one, was it? yuck...

by the way, am I the only one that notices the STRIKING body style similarities of that car pictured and the old Datsun 280ZX (I think that's what it was anyway). Most definitely though, that car does NOT say "I'm a Corvette".

I'm sure that at least some powers that be that are in the GM circle frequent this board whether they post or not or have revealed who they are or not. When you read this, aren't you guys getting the message that your truly devoted Chevy fans are going to be turning your back on you? With out us, where are you going to be? Oh yeah, that's right, the Aztek is a major success, that'll keep you afloat, right?

I hate GM bashing, but get serious... figure it out guys!

"baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet" doesn't have the same feeling or meaning that it used to have. But relax, I don't think that "baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and 'Dodge' or 'F*rd'" fits too well so maybe the phrase will stick for years to come for that.

on a happy note, if they made a camaro that looked somewhat like that, I think I'd be okay with that. There's some positive things I like about it and it might fit (with some help) as a Camaro, but plain and simply that's just not a Corvette...

or hell, maybe we got it wrong... did it say CHEVette someplace? that's a nice looking Chevette, there's a long forgotten name that they couldn't damage like they did the other reason names they've broght back.

What do you mean no way? It looks just like your 5th gen drawing to me Ted, with a difference in headlights I guess.

I like it except for the headlights and the vents behind the front wheel openings. BTW, it's the older Zs that the rear quarters look like, nice and rounded, not like the 280ZX (all straight lines and hard edges, yuk). Looks a lot tighter at the rear than the big-bottomed C5. Hopefully they'll return to a convex tail with ROUND taillights as well. Would be cool if a C6 hardtop model had the flying buttresses/sugar scoop of the '68 - '77 'vettes. Moot for me anyway, if there's no 5th gen arriving, I'll get a Solstice (the REAL new embodiment of the 240Z, screw the 350Z).

Yup, this is how a guy at road and track invisions the next vette, this isnt GM's rendering. To me it does look a lot like the RX8.

I hate GM bashing too.But this thing sucks ***.This definately does not say CORVETTE.The blue pic from the rear is 1975 all the way,but the front shot? I can only hope they made this thing up over at RnT.I happen to like most of what GM currently offers, except that stupid fwd crap. Also like the Bel-Air concept, but man this thing really stinks,I hope someone at GM is reading this.I also wish they would recall the 63-67 M.Y.,or maybe more like the TIGERSHARK Mr.Moss built.

Wink

Thats a very funny looking car but its not the C6. Remember the C6 will ride on the C5 frame and have very nearly the same shape and overall style as the current car. So expect a lower car with some more agressive stance with bigger wheels and tires and Corvetter Heritiage. But the headlights do look accurate.

Ugh.

Pop-ups are a must in my mind for a car to 'look like a Corvette'.

At the very least, they should be 'concealed' somehow. I've heard a lot of rumors about a 'shuttered' headlight... but that has died down a lot lately.

Hidden headlights are as much a part of the Corvette look as the quad taillights are.

Actually if you look soley for "design cues" I think this earlier sketch is much closer to the idea..... http://www.corvetteconti.com/Catalog...newcatalog.jpg

Has the same headlights, side cove (better execution) and crisp fender lines...but also a better fascia...and body lines.
