Wink I edited the GTO concept...

I was bored so I thought I'd see what I could do... see if you guys like this more.

Of course I like this one better, but I don't think the current sketch they have disgraces the GTO name or anything.

Keep in mind this is just the nose section that is changed, gotta stick with the quick and inexpensive import and compromise on design... so I didn't add hood scoops or a spoiler, although I know you want those. The headlights would also need revised, but really just the exterior glass/plastic would need changed.

GTO?

I like it better already.

This is what I meant. They could have made the car look unique by changing the same exact parts.

Good job!

You know what's funny, even the slightest hint of a "nose" in GM's sketch may have been enough to sway some of us.....and I think it really should have even the slimmest of mid-hood scoops.

Could you do that version? I'd like to see if it's any good.

Interesting idea. honestly at first glance I really hated it.. it looked like a mute alien or something. It's not bad though. The way you designed it, the front hood line is totally different than before, meaning the Monaro hood wouldn't fit and they'd need a redesign, so you might as well go all out and add Ram Air to it, just for kicks. I'm still working on my concept but I can't find a decent set of realistic looking scoops to add. I could see myself getting used to your concept if it existed.

I like it. I think the 68 GTO was a bit better looking than the 70.

Also, if its gonna have hood scoops, I'd put them towards the front (like the WS6's) and they would have to be functional. Theres nothing I hate more in this world than non-functional hood scoops. That and maybe retro-styling taken to the extreme.

Stevil,
Great Job!!

I think the end result is the same caliber as the GM job, just a different look. Where GM's invokes the feeling of the '70, Stevil's invokes the feeling of the '68 and '69 without the covered headlight option.

Stevil,
Have you tried removing that plastic lens look that goes all the way to the beak. It looks like one big plastic covering. Try stopping them at the lights and putting in deeply recessed grilles with a small, thin horizontal chrome bar or strip thru the centers of each grille.
And if you're feeling creative, continue the raised beak section into the hood(bulge) like the '68s & '69s with the two small Ram Air scoops flanking the center bulge torwards the rear of the hood. I would like to see how that would look.
If you're bored.

Thanks guys. I figured you would all want extra stuff added on, hehe. Which I could do I guess, make some sort of SLP enhanced GTO. I just wanted to redo the nose section, to see what GM could have done... a bare minimum GTO, without all the extras (different hood, spoiler, fenders, etc). Seems to have got a good response, cool.

Sure Branden.

kizz: It does look odd, maybe its the way I photoshop... or the actual design. The hood line should be the same though, I may have rounded it off on acc¡dent.

HuJass: Nope, made the headlight lenses extended that way on purpose. I was going for a more modern look, as well as keeping it "aerodynamic"... sort of an odd idea I guess, but at least its unique, lol.

Nice job, thats what I'm talking about as others are, just modifing it to look more GTOlike and not like all the others. Imagine that car in different colors like bright red or black?!

Can you do this maybe:
-Make the lights come down on an angle a little.
-hood scoops
-hood tach
-spoiler
-make driving lights smaller
-add GTO to the drivers headlight
-tires the right color

Do a few, maybe 1 with stripes or a few different things or whatever and we'll see how it looks better.

Good work dude really.

GREAT concept!

I like the GM photoshop job, even though it's way too Grand-Ammy. Yours is WAY better. Distinctively Pontiac, but different from the rest, with just a dash of "heritage." (NOT "retro")

Small complaints -- The "beak" is not triangular enough. Crossing the bumper like it does, it comes off a little bit like Dodge's "crosshair" corporate design. Make the top of the beak just a bit wider, and the bottom point just a bit narrower.

I also agree that the extended headlight covers are a bad execution of a good idea. That "space" should extend from the corner of the car to the beak in the center, but it shouldn't be plastic headlight coveres the whole way. I like the idea of wide-set headlights, with black grille stretching from the inside corner of each lamp to the nose.

What are the chances that someone could photoshop some very small, vertically-stacked dual headlamps at the corners, set inside a black grille that tapers toward the nose?

Why the rollcage? Damned if I know; I bought it that way, and since I've run a 13.637 1/4, I'm keeping it! Besides, it looks cool.
