I cant wait to see a LS3 or something putting out 450-475 hp and an LS8 putting out 550 hp! or whatever they want to call them...

I think they need to go back to LT's or pick a different number becuase the LS's are running out of numbers...
Are you serious?

Well, I may be wrong then but the document was about a new supercharger for LS Series motors, so I figured that all of them were supercharged. It seems I am probably wrong in assuming that though.

Yes. What the document showed was the Corvette SS with a supercharged motor at 600HP and seemed to show the Z06 getting one at 480-500HP automatic and manual...

But we know there won't be a Corvette called SS and it doesn't seem to make much sense that a Z06 would get an automatic.

Not seeing the trend, upset that the LS2 would get replaced, basically everything.

Unless I missed the sarcasm?

LS3 is the 5.3 V8 in the Impala. You don't really think that engine's replacing the 6.0??? In the Corvette???

The 6.2 V8 that's coming out in the new GMT-900 was the topic that came up.

Now... we return to the program already in progress.

IIRC the LS4 is the 303 hp FWD V8 for the Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP.

I believe the LS3 is purportedly a 425-450 hp tweaked version of the LS2 - not sure on the details - due in the 2008/2009 timeframe.

I wasnt to blaintfully obvious I know... but hey...

LT1 is still better IMO to the LS1 seeing that I own one of each...

but... the ls1 is superior in performance, just doesnt have that muscle sound...

LS4 is what is in the Impala

I'm guessing the car version of the 6.2L L92 will be called LS3 in the Vette, if the vette gets it.

guionM, think the 6.4L V8 will ever come out that they were testing? For those that don't know that was the original size of the LS7 a few years ago, then GM decided to bump it up to 7.0L. 6.4L was also in the Woodward GTO.

I'm supprised the 6.2L even cam out. It is very close to 6.0, I would have thought GM would have wanted to fill the 6-7.0L gap better with something like a 6.4L

Both the 6.4L and the 7.0L use the same block. The 6.4L used the standard 3.622" crank from the LS1, LS6, LS2, etc. To get 7.0L they put in a 4.00" crank. Theoretically the 6.4L would've made more horsepower using the same components as the 7L, but it would've been at a higher RPM and had about 20ft-lbs less torque. I have a feeling the engine life of the 7L would be higher than the 6.4L. But the 7L has got to be harder on the rest of the car.

They could have gotten 505hp out of the 6.4, but it would have been a much more high strung motor, and it may not have been very emissions friendly. Hell, you can get 500hp out of an LS1 pretty easily, but not in a manner that GM could sell in a factory vehicle. If they had gone for the 6.4, the motor would have had to wind out at the very least another few hundred RPM, the low end would have been compromised, and I would wager that the 6.4 would have been a good deal more than 20lb-ft of peak torque less than the 7.0.

Why is it called the L92? Will it's name change to an LSx designation once it debuts in the Corvette?
