New 6.2 GM V8... Whats the reason for or so special about it???

I'm guessing LS3 won't be just a rebranding of L92... GM aren't like that... there will be tangible reasons, I'm sure.
The compression ratio of the L92 is only 10.5:1. The LS2 is 10.9 and the LS7 is 11.0:1, so we can just guess that the Vette/Camaro/whatever other car version will get higher compression and a slightly bigger cam. I'd bet that the car version will get at least another 25-50hp to compete with the 6.1L Hemi and Shelby GT500.

Has anybody here wondered how the DOD engines will work with "performance upgrades".
If we wanted to put in a big nasty cam/heads/headers what will we have to do??? Eliminate the DOD function from the CPU? Or wonder if you could get that to work on a HiPo engine as well...???
Reason I ask is the speculation of the Camaro getting a version of the 5.3 DoD and rumors of the 6.2 getting it as well. I would hate to have an engine I can't mod because the DoD is there...

So after only a few years on the market, the LS2 gets sh*tcanned? What for? So there is gunna be a huge gap from the 5.3 to the 6.2!!
Id figure that maybe in a few years, sometime in 2010, but only 2 years into its life cycle, its already has a replacement?

ie Pontiac G8 GXP and GTO, Chevy RWD Sedan SS, El Comino, Trailblazer SS. Leave the 6.2L for the Corvette and Cadillacs.

Maybe the 5.3 is getting a power boost? Maybe it will get some technological trickery that will bring power levels to the 350 mark in some applications.
Re: New 6.2 GM V8... Whats the reason for or so special about it???
Thats what Imthinking, that the 5.3 would have to be maxed out and make 350-370hp range, and still have room to grow for people that want more power when they mod.
I think that the 6.2 should be treated as the 6.1 of GM. 6.2 should be left for ONLY performance applications. The LS7 is the Viper V10. Leave the 5.3 and 6.0 as the work horse engines and performance platforms.
