I'm hoping no one tries to responds to SCNGENNFTHGEN's last post and drags this thread down any lower...

Oh God…tell me you are joking?

Do you truly not know the origin of the term “ricer”? Do you not know that the term originated specifically to refer to Japanese motorcycles? Do you also not know that Yamaha is a Japanese motorcycle (well, among other things) company?

I’ll grant you the Raptor isn’t a “bike” to most people but it is sold by the Yamaha Motorcycle Company and I think that most people realize that sans two wheels, the difference between a four-wheeler and a motorcycle is very slight.

So yes (unless you are lying about your “rides”); I hate to break the news to you but you own a couple of ricer bikes (and that’s true whether you bought them new, inherited them or stole them).

Once again, good for you…so what? And just for the record, I wasn’t referring to your Buell or any future Harley purchase.

I think you need a reality check (or some kind of check)…companies exist to make money…at the end of the day, that’s all they really care about…they don’t “contribute” to our freedom; people contribute to our freedom; some by simply going to work every day; some by wearing the uniform; some by dying in that uniform…as some of us like to say; some gave all; all gave some.

Japan hates the U.S.? I suppose you have that on good authority, right? Care to cite some actual evidence of that? Oh I forget; facts don’t enter into it for you do they.

How much time have you spent in Japan? Perhaps a better question; have you ever been outside of North America?

Besides that, the rags have a hard on for foreign brands, and have been trashing American brands for years! These same rags are also put out by people who hate US. Corruption and treason has led US to this current mess we're in IMO
Quite a conspiracy theory you have going there…watch out for those black helicopters.

Well finally, something we can all agree on.

My apologies to SteveO.

I agree that MPG isn't a big deal for high performance folks... the point I'm suggesting is that the GT-R is an odd choice for COTY. High price, low MPG, low production. MT can choose what they wish for the award, in proof of that, they chose what they chose.

I'm not bothered by the choice. It just strikes me as a strange call on MT's part. "Forward think" doesn't include poor MPG numbers. COTY doesn't have a history of being high-performance, rather a high-value recommendation that the choice is the car to buy. The GT-R offers a big bang for the buck, granted. I just don't think high dollars, low MPG, and limited production in the context of COTY.

It's an eighty grand $$$ car Bob. The Ferrari 430 Scuderia is a tremendous value too... Faster than the Enzo in the twisties for far less dough weighs 2975 pounds, 505 HP, the absolute best sequential tranny offered in a street car, world class electronic differential, etc.... I'd think MT had lost their mind if they picked that for COTY. Z06, ZR1, same deal... When mileage and dollars are secondary the less folks will feel the COTY matters in a buying choice.

In this economy, going elitist is odd.
