None knows the pricing for the new L yet. Anything you've heard is most likely speculation.

Personally, i don't see it surpassing 40k tops. Still a bunch of $$$.

I duno about that. We've all learned lately that big factory horsepower=big pricetag. Jumping from 380 to 500 should command a similarly big jump in base price. L's are already well north of $30,000 now aren't they?

270-280rwhp to 360-380rwhp was a big jump (almost 100rwhp)for the Cobra, but we didn't see a 15,000 price increase on the 2003 Cobra did we?

Even at 40,000 dollars (guestimate) for the next L, that would be increase of 7,000 dollars over the current L. That is a Big gain in itself (22%). I've heard of price going up between models, but by 30 or 50%?

I don't know. I don't think they'll price it over 40k tops. At least i hope not . But we'll soon find out i guess since they go on sale sometime next year i think.

Don't forget the extra 50hp boost from the patented aftercooler technothingamagig in the L. So that may bring it up to about 600hp.

Would be nice if they made the L all-wheel-drive and 600hp... the ultimate in truck driving!!! Hell, car driving too!

If they drop that GT motor in, as Colleti so kindly hinted too, the car will most deffinatly hit the SRT10 price range. That is no regular 5.4 from what I have read. There is some serious parts with that blown motor. I wouldnt be surprised to see it priced around 50k IF it gets the GT motor.

I just dont see why SVT leaves a little to the aftermarket. If they max out the engine, what fun is it to mod it? No one wants to mod there cars anymore, its either they want GM, Ford, Dodge to do it for them, or they use cut-check engineering.

I don't think it'll be maxxed out. They're using a new alloy for the GT block that is 20% to 30% stronger than other 5.4L blocks currently out there. That plus the iron cylinder <sp?> sleeves...it should be as strong as or close to what an iron block would be. The smaller 4.6L Cobra iron block is pretty strong. From the factory it's underrated at 390, producing more like 415 hp (I've heard 420-425 SAE). Swap out the stock s/c for a KenneBell and people are getting 600 RWHP on pump gas!!! I can only imagine what a really good shop could do with a GT.

BTW, SVT's Cobra has a huge aftermarket. There's all kinds of power adding parts for that car. LOL, it's quite ridiculous how much power you can get out of that car with a few bolt ons.

it looks like alot of these cars comming form the factory are severly debilitated from the factory and just changing the parts to performance parts wakes them up..like the SRT-4 and such..alot of fast cars that with a little bucks do incredible things!!!

True, the blown 5.4 dohc isn't cheap. Maybe they'll save a little by giving it 3v heads in place of the 4v heads in the GT. Still would be a pricey motor. I don't think the current blown 5.4 Sohc is cheap either, but they seemed to make the current L a decent value.

Look at it this way, the Vipers v10 costs 15,000 large and Dodge prices the SRT-10 Ram at 46k.

Anyways, 550hp for the 5.4L in the Ford GT is far from maxed out btw. I would say it is more on the conservative side. Like someone already said, peep at the Buick GN 3.8's, Supra TT, Neon SRT-4, S/c 4.6 Cobra, etc... They put out some impressive numbers stock, yet their engines are overbuilt and can withstand tons more. These are some of the most popular cars to mod. And i sincerely believe that the GT will prove to be one of the most tunable exotics on the market. I bet it could pump out 700rwhp without breaking a sweat.
