He'd at least been pushing for the C5 even in rough financial times at GM. Hopefully Mark would have the same drive for the Camaro if they're serious about building it.

I think Lloyd was gone way before C5.

I knew there was a reason for me keeping the faith.
To say I'm happy would be an understatement!

Hey didn't Red (or someone at GM) say that we would hear something big about the future of the Camaro before production of the current model ended?
This seems like it... a good day for us Camaro enthusiasts!

According to that acticle it apears that after the Pontiac GTO (the actual car) comes and goes it sounds like the term "GTO" will no longer refer to an actual car but it will refer to specific high-performance versions of Pontiac cars such as : Grand Prix GTO, Solstice GTO (like SS is for Chevrolet).

I dont know if this right but the article seemed to refer to it that way.

Maybe the new GTO is just to set a performance image for the coming GTO terminology to be used on all future pontiacs.

Best news I've heard since the GTO announcment.

I would like to nominate the W-body as a platform for the next Camaro.

I think the article is just worded funny. After taking such care to preseve the character of the original GTO in the Monaro-based version, I wouildn't think they'd spread it out across all models in their lineup as a signature of their GMPD variants. Not to mention it would be confusing to the public. "Welcome back the all-new GTO for 2004! Also come in and try our new Sunfire GTO and Vibe GTO!"

Thumbs up

As has already been said this is great news. However I never lost faith,no way in hell they could ever let the CAMARO die.I have been a bowtie fan as far back as I can remember, and even if they did stop production on the F-body for good, which is a scary thought,I would never ever buy a mustang or any other ford product. Also on the streets CAMAROS WILL always rule.Just my 2cents.WHAT AWSOME NEWS!!!!

Exclamation

In another post about the new GTO it was said that GM execs confirmed Pontiac will be "the" performance division at GM. This will most likely mean no RWD performance Impala or Monte. I'd be happy with just Corvette and Camaro though!
