Cool

Guys, isn't this news pretty HUGE? I mean FINALLY, someone higher-up at GM is at least stating the fact that a new Camaro is being studied, or even better, is in the planning stages (beyond some back-room, off-the-clock efforts by a dedicated few.) It kind of goes against what Lutz said about "no current plans" though doesn't it?

I agree, this is pretty huge. As far as I can remember, this is the first "official" and "public" confirmation that Camaro has a future.

As far as which platform to choose....it better be no less than Sigma!

What is the credibility behind this story? I've heard of nothing about this interview until now. Shouldn't this news have hit newspapers and other websites by now? Sorry to sound like a pesimist.

Assuming that this is credible:

&lt;----- This does not truly indicate how I'm actually smiling, but it's almost there.

This is good news by the looks of it!

This is GRRREEEAAAT!!!! Im almost falling of my chair over here. I like thier idea of "atleast one performance can for each GM divison." As far as the firebird goes, as long as the GTO is here the firebird is questionable, but you never know.....i like how the GM performance division is finally waking up I mean come on look at SVT and what they do with the focus! SVT contour? remember that? I can only image what the GM performance team would do with the cavalier to compete with the ricer/import market...oh boy!

I really don’t even know what to say! This is so great, I hope they stand true to these words. This is huge, I'm glad we are finally hearing something. Maybe we will see a Camaro concept this fall. All I know is that this link is being sent to my Ford friends right now for them to chew on and get worried about a 400hp sigma Z28 on the way. WOOOOOO HOOOOO!

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">General Motors is putting the pedal to the metal in an effort to get high-performance niche vehicles into its showrooms and to bolster dealership parts department sales of its performance parts and accessories.

In a speech Wednesday to Detroit-based auto writers, Mark Reuss, executive director of GM's Performance Division, said GM plans to:

Build at least one high-performance model for each division, a vehicle that leverages the division's performance heritage, such as Super Sport or SS models for Chevrolet and GTO for Pontiac.

Whoo Hooo!!!! The Camaro is on its way back as we all pretty much knew and hoped for!! The best musclecar in the business is coming again for more M*****g beating and more years of greatness. Lets hope they do it right.
