For comparison, here's the SRT-4's times from R&T (Motor Trend didn't have any real info listed)
0-60: 5.7
1/4 mile: 14.3 @ 100.9
Lap time: 1:23.65
Slalom: 64.9 mph
Skidpad: 0.83g
60-0 120 ft
80-0 212 ft

Wow, lots of good stuff to say about that cobalt!
14.5@98.2 shows that this thing has some guts if it's trapping 98+ mph. That's easily in the stock LT1 area.
That slalom is seriously fast too. Blows away the SRT-4.
Glad to see it.

Keep in mind the FWD cars trap higher than RWD cars running similar ET's, since it's harder to get a good takeoff with FWD. That's why you see the SRT-4s running traps of over 100 but still sitting in the low 14's. I'd say the stock LT1 cars have nothing to worry about from the Cobalt.
Re: M/T gets 14.5@98.2 with Cobalt SS
That thing is sweet. I just cant go FWD. I really want to do a domestic 4 banger project. I'll wait for the Solstice FI. I think Pontiac Should build a Small 2+2 Coupe off of Kappa with this motor. Nice alt. for us folks down south.
Re: M/T gets 14.5@98.2 with Cobalt SS
Is the car really light or is it underrated? A 14.5 with 205 hp seems better than I would have thought. I'm glad it at least can compete with the SRT-4 though, I had it pegged as losing by nearly a second in the quarter (I was thinking low 15s on average like most ~200ish hp FWD ricers)
Re: M/T gets 14.5@98.2 with Cobalt SS
awesome! Very very good times! And there is still PLENTY left in that motor!!
Cant wait for some serious tuners to get there hands on this car, and make it a true street machine.

Damn that thing looks a lot like a Scion tC from the front. The rear spoiler could be a bit smaller, too...
Other than the spoiler, it sounds like a nice little car. Hopefully it'll do well. Wish I could afford a $20K commuter...

Yeah I get the weight transfer thing and all but..........
ANyhow--great times form the Coblat SS--I never had any doubts.
Throw that rear wing in the trash and its the best looking compact car out there.

AWD cars are a really good example to use for this. An AWD Evo for example can sprint to 60 in under 5 seconds and runs the quartermile in the low 13s trapping just over 100mph. The FWD SRT-4 on the other hand can also traps a tad over 100mph well driven, but its quartermile et is going to be in the high 13s/low 14s.
I will have to disagree with MunchE though. I think stock LT1s will be suprised by these Cobalts, especially on the street. The LT1 only has a slight edge on this car accleration wise.
