Lutz wants a new GTO.

I've actually been wondering about Zeta and AWD....
If Zeta *IS* in fact very similar to Sigma, then it SHOULD be able to handle AWD since SRX and STS have it as a $1900 sticker price option.
General Motors NEEDS a normal priced AWD sedan (ie: something cheaper than STS), if nothing else.... I'd love to see a next Gen Grand Prix sedan with AWD available!!
One thing that is curious to me, from Dodge, is that Magnum is available with AWD, but Charger is not.... that's a shame, IMO... I don't understand why they don't offer it on Charger if it is already there for Magnum.

Regardless of what engines it had at what time, I don't think Grand Prix was ever regarded as a muscle car........ certainly not in the legendary class of the GTO name.
If you ask someone to make a list of muscle cars, Grand Prix would show up around #387 or so, if at all....
People have gotten over it being FWD as well... doesn't mean that it's OK to make the GTO FWD, though.

Well I'll tell you, the GP was Pontiac's top of the line offering, both in luxury features and performance. And it had quite the image for a very, very long time.
A FWD, 4 door, Grand Prix, is just as much of a stretch from those classy, high powered, '60's Grand Prix, coupes, as a FWD, 4 door would be for the same year GTO's. It's easy to forget that now, because the GP has been around for so long.
That's all I'm saying, and if we're going to cite historical references to make the case on what the GTO should or should not be, I think we should be accurate about it. I'm sure that you agree.

See how fast you (and everyone else), got over the GP being a sedan.

I still haven't

It also kills me that my 5 year old GP, which is a 9 year old design dating to '97, is STILL a better looking AND more modern design than the 2006 Monte Carlo. And GM wonders why coupes have declined in popularity? What has it done to make the MC more attractive? Hell, its killed the F bodies, the GTO is too bland, the Eldorado had no changes for 10 years and then got axed....
I'll stop whining now...I just miss my GP coupes
