LS7=7.7l...Proof?
Re: LS7=7.7l...Proof?
So does this mean the C6 Z06 is going to be subject to gas-guzzler tax? GM has done some incredible things with the LSx motor deisgns to wring out awesome power with great gas economy (in it's cars at least) but I don't see how even GM will be able to meet the requirements with 7.0 liters. Not saying 7.0 is bad... drool, slavver.... bring it... so please don't flame me saying who cares etc. etc. I'm just asking for a informed repsonse.
The reduced mass of the C6 Z06 plus possible displacement on demand would help in normal driving, though it would surely bring many tuts and disproving looks from the purists. But if I recall correctly, there will be no DoD for the C6 Z06 anyway?

Here is how the gas guzzler tax works.
GAS GUZZLER TAX
Unadjusted MPG(combined)* Tax
at least 22.5 No tax
at least 21.5, but less than 22.5 $1000
at least 20.5, but less than 21.5 $1300
at least 19.5, but less than 20.5 $1700
at least 18.5, but less than 19.5 $2100
at least 17.5, but less than 18.5 $2600
at least 16.5, but less than 17.5 $3000
at least 15.5, but less than 16.5 $3700
at least 14.5, but less than 15.5 $4500
at least 13.5, but less than 14.5 $5400
at least 12.5, but less than 13.5 $6400
less than 12.5 $7700
* The combined fuel economy MPG value (55 % city, 45 % highway)

Re: LS7=7.7l...Proof?
With a 6spd manual or semi-auto trans and with a quazi-good rear gearing, I guess you could see low 20's. Maybe a 1-2k tax...but alll in all...how many 500hp cars can get 20-25mpg? GM should get an award, not a tax.
