...and if it was available with AWD I probably would have put an order in. I guess it's time for me to eat crow and take back all the negative things I said about retro styling (although this is the first car I've like which uses it), because I fell in love with it. I dont know how it happened, but it did.

Of course no salesman would come talk to me and I was too pissed to go in and find one, so I couldnt sit in it, but from what I could tell here were the pros and cons:

Cons -
The entire interior is hard plastic. Even my old 1991 Cavalier had a softfeeling dash. I noticed this in my friends new Cobalt, too, but I thought it was just because it was a base model. A $23k HHR should not be entirely plastic.
No AWD. After having 4x4 in Ohio winters, I won't go back to FWD.
I always told myself that if I got something new I'd go with a full sized truck so I could pull my car.
No trailer hitch for anything, not even a little UHaul and the job I'm looking to get will require me moving every 6 moths for 2 years (4 times).
At that price I'd be really tempted to buy a Cobalt SS.
Rear drum brakes. Why?

Pros -
Styling. I love it. I'm infatuated. I'm confused why, but I am. The Sunset Orange Metallic color made it that much better (not sure if it is SOM, but its close).
Even with the hard plastic, the interior is laid out very nice. There is a minimalist approach going on, but it's not boring. It is a very good mix.
23/30 milage with the 2.4 ecotec vs. 15/23 I get currently
With some Eibachs, a billet grille and 19"s, it would be hot. The 17"s look good as it is.
There seems to be decent cargo space in it. Enough for golfclubs and groceries.

Is there any possibility for an AWD HHR?

 

I don't have a problem with hard plastic dash, as long as it doesn't LOOK like hard plastic. I'd still like the things I touch or rest my arm on regularly to be soft, though. Things like armrests, tops of the door panels, top of the console, etc.

I'd also like to check one out just to see it, but unfortunately the dealer hasn't gotten one in.

I think I saw one of those downtown Thursday night... looks like a PT Cruiser front end. Never heard of it before then hehe.

 

Its being marketed as a "heritage" styled utility vehicle. Hense why the minimalist plastic approach.

Real utility vehicles don't have leather.

 

Mine has heated leather and I dont want to give that up

 

To me it looks more like the old "Gravedigger" Chevy body.......Which IMHO PT ripped off, when it came out!

The Chevy dealer I bought my Cobalt SS at had a HHR too . Pictures dont do thing justice , its really cool looking . I dont know why I liked it either , hehe as I hate the PT . I thought it was gonna look soft , but the body with the wheel flares and lines looks really muscular . Its also a bit longer than the PT , overall just bigger than the PT .

I am very interested ti see if they actually do an AWD model. Thats the one thing that Chrysler could have put in the PT to increase sales. They mentioned it several times but never did it. I am sure it would have grabbed a lot of the cute ute market.

 

Looks better than the PT.

I've yet to see one in person.

My local chevy dealer just got them,they had a black one out on display by the street with a silver Corvette.It looks like a sharp little car,would probably be even better looking as a panel wagon like the Grave Digger's.
