Let's put some more thought into this...
Let's put some more thought into this...
It has more than less come out that Holden has design responsibility for the next GTO, and it will be almost an exact twin of the Holden variant (Monaro??). So this means that it will more than likely keep the same proportions as the current coupes (or does it?!).
But why is Holden only design-responsible for the GTO/Holden coupe? What about the other vehicles??? The word is they are being designed in Warren, but they will share most of the systems with the GTO/Holden coupe.
This leaves the question, what about the Camaro?? Will it be the only affordable NA designed coupe. One is to assume that the Buick is moving upscale (read: more expensive), but is this the wrong assumption??
And no one has even mentioned Saturn and Zeta together, but it is a possibility (that might blow a few minds around here).
Let's keep brainstorming and speculating...
Edit: I had to leave the post unfinished, but I'm back...

Don't know about a Saturn Zeta coupe...but I'd like to see a Kappa coupe. Whether it's a Chevy, Pontiac or Saturn. The only reservations that I might have is that a Kappa coupe would probably outhandle a Zeta coupe.

Saturn needs a halo of some sort...

Does it matter where the GTO or Camaro are designed?? I think the GTO/Monaro sharing dimensions isn't a problem. The current car's size seems appropriate.

The next GTO/Monaro has already been desinged by Holden & GM-NA, as has the sheetmetal for the Zeta sports sedans.
To save time, both Holden & North America did what can best be described as a joint design linked up by hyperspace. This saved a ton of time as GM-NA would have to design the sheetmetal after Holden finished the hardpoints, and possibly after Holden finished the entire car.
As a result, Holden's sedans & our sports sedans will have very similar if not identical sheetmetal, but with different interiors and front & rear ends.
The car "not" known as Camaro
was designed here. While based on the GTO/Monaro, won't exactly be the same thing.
Best example regarding Zeta to compare the Fox Mustang to the Fox Thunderbird or Fox Fairmont. Imagine the Fairmont and Thunderbird being engineered & designed by Ford Germany, for example (because they have expertise in making sophisticated RWD chassis and it's the only way they can get a modern chassis), while the Mustang based on the same components is designed here.
