The SS V has fender flares! Flares are back! Honestly, if I need a four door and that car makes it to the US, it's my next purchase.

Re: July 16

I like that SS V alot. I wonder if thats the G8 for us. If you look at the instrument cluster it is close to the Camaro concept, but alot closer to the 69 camaro instrament cluster. That cluster is what I hope we get for Camaro, but for the actual gauges inside the cluster I like the Carprice gauges better. Its hard to tell size with pics. Statesman and Caprice look the same size.

Holy ****, the Caprice's interior looks so nice!

The SS V would make a great Pontiac car!

They are the same size, same car with different trim and front ends. Caprice is thevhigh lux model with all the gadgets.

They're nice. Not as revolutionary as GM needs, however (at least in NA).
Love the interiors.
Would like to see a coupe version.

Nor is VE as revolutionary as I was expecting (for such a radical departure from the outgoing model). I expected an aggressive front like that of the Torana concept. In typical GM vogue, the VE is a very watered down Torana.

I'm sure that the interior design, the ergonomics, the NVH, the quality and driving dynamics will make up for VE's subdued and evolutionary exterior design. Those are the most important attributes about a car's integrity.

Aww, no offense taken, man. We're all just trying to share the enthusiasm!

More on the cars, the interiors are plain amazing and far better than how they appeared in the original spy photos. In those, they looked rather bland and banal, but now seen clearly, they simply look great. The exteriors are definitely handsome, but lack that flair and attitude I know I'd like to see in a Buick, Pontiac, or stateside Chevrolet.

a reskin in the same division. Thanks for explaining... Im used to our Caprice but it would seem yours is closer to Caddy maybe and Statesman might be the Buick version. Sometimes I think GM has a few too many divisions in the US. Or at least could combine some like Saturn Saab and Hummer.

That would make for a pretty interesting setup.
  • Chevrolet - Volume
  • Cadillac - Luxury
  • Pontiac/Buick/GMC - Contemporary premium
  • Saturn/SAAB/HUMMER - Offbeat premium
...especially with Saturns becoming more European. While Chevy/Cadillac are each themselves full-line, the other two could act in concert as a fullline, making General Motors practically have four major channels for sales while keeping the dealers happy and offering unique products instead of the ubiquitous Camry with a spolier (sport), Camry with no options (basic), and Camry with all the options (Lexus ES).
